I'm picking up 125 pounds of bulk grains today.
It was a zoo out there yesterday. To get this, it's necessary to place an online order, then pick it up directly from a truck at a truck stop. Huge crowd yesterday and lots of faces I hadn't seen before.
Probably more people are waking up to the fact that SHTF is imminent and that supply lines are fragile. Probably not enough people and for the minority who are last minute shopping, they're probably greatly under prepared.

I get local potatoes in 50lb bags for around 20$ and rice for about 60lb. Gotta get California rice because SE is heavily contaminated from the cotton fields toxins.
I'll reiterate my suggestion on animal protein if you have a family to feed. Eggs and meat are perhaps as equally important as plant food sources. They also need a learning curve. You'll get fertilizer and entertainment. Bunnies and hens. Food chain reliability will diminish as with everything else. Self sufficiency is necessary sooner than later.

A Reuters survey of economists forecasted that Friday's jobs report is likely to come in at 115,000 in October after a surprisingly strong 254,000 jobs were added in September.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets ... 9c5c&ei=73

These kinds of job numbers (a drop to somewhere around 100K per month) have historically gone hand in hand with a stock market decline. However, there's so much manipulation and fraud of all types propping up this economy and stock market (even in the jobs numbers themselves) that it's hard to point to history and expect the same result.

Elon Musk asks voters to brace for 'hardship' as billionaire plans deep spending cuts from potential Trump cabinet post
Story by Rob Wile and Lora Kolodny, CNBC • 3h
And on Tuesday, Musk reiterated the anticipated economic pain from the plan. In response to an X user who wrote that spending cuts would cause “a severe overreaction in the economy” and that “markets will tumble,” before the U.S. emerges on “sounder footing,” Musk responded, “sounds about right.”

We will burn all pulled plants for fall tilling. Last peppers and tomatoes this late into the fall is rather rare here.
The week we went south we had zero rain and one frost as the zucchini just needed water to finish the last of them.
Selling calls and added modest on last spike into sds and the latter on tltw and raising cash down to 4.3 percent yield.
The debt spike will not stop from the fed human smuggler cult.
They are just flying in illegals as it collapses in the now doom loop debt spiral since the democrats
got two empty heads for the price of one. As it was said the other half are dumber than the idiots gaslighting the other half.
Taxpayers are way past slow on the uptake as both sides have already took them out.

On one aspect alone owning a car costs an average of $12,182 per year or $1,015 monthly.
As noted I terminated the Toronto project for the Frankfurt BTC fork that paid the cost of the
truck I purchased for cash from proceeds. The winter is here sooner than later we have seen for thousands
as deception took the taxpayer simply out. As the body farm states they are garbage anyways.
Burn loot murder lie cheat steal is all they will be and MMT simply are.

“When you focus on what RFK Jr. says is part of his Make America Healthy Again mission, it’s very hard to see how this aligns at all with what Trump, his supporters, and the Republican party are proposing,” Parmet said. “RFK Jr. wants to get rid of toxins and claims he is going to get rid of capture at the FDA, but how do you do this while you are also dismantling the regulatory state and appointing judges that disable regulators from regulating? … What is the magic device by which we’re going to get polluters to stop polluting?”

Exactly. The only magic device is economic collapse. A really big one. Maybe they can find a way to inadvertently cause it; I don't know.

HEALTH
Trump, RFK Jr’s ‘Make America Healthy Again’ Pledge Signals Major Shift In GOP Priorities

ADAM PACK
CONTRIBUTOR
October 28, 2024

Former President Donald Trump and former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s recent vow to tackle public health issues together could signal a major shift in Republican priorities if the Trump campaign prevails on Election Day.

Trump has called for the creation of an independent commission with Kennedy’s input and pledged to address various Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) issues the former independent candidate has brought to the forefront, including improving the public’s intake of nutritious foods and addressing the rising trend of obesity in adults. These concerns, in addition to other MAHA priorities that have not historically found much support in the GOP such as calling for more stringent environmental regulations, indicate that a potential Trump administration may take a different approach on health, agricultural and environmental issues than during his first term in office.

Campaign officials, GOP lawmakers and health experts previewed a diverse set of MAHA priorities in interviews with the Daily Caller News Foundation. Tackling the rising chronic disease rate that impacts roughly 60% of American adults is a shared point of concern.

“It’s finally turning the page and saying, ‘We want a health system, not a disease system,'” Dr. Robert Redfield, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) told the DCNF. “For 50 years we built a disease system.”

“When we send President Trump back to the White House, he will work alongside passionate voices like RFK Jr. to Make America Healthy Again by providing families with safe food and ending the chronic disease epidemic plaguing our children,” Karoline Leavitt, national press secretary for the Trump campaign, told the DCNF. “President Trump will also establish a special Presidential Commission of independent minds who are not bought and paid for by Big Pharma and will charge them with investigating what is causing the decades-long increase in chronic illnesses.”

Republicans and former Trump health officials are enthusiastic that marshaling the federal government in response to the country’s myriad health crises could turn the corner on an era where Americans are facing poorer health outcomes and declining life expectancy.
https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/28/trum ... in-pledge/

In my opinion, the corner could be turned in 2 generations. Not 4 years as RFK has stated. But there's no way these 2 will be able to put anything together to a.) figure out what the real problems are and b.) find the hundreds of billions of man hours required without collapsing the economy as it currently runs with all its dependencies on corruption.

Once the economy collapses and has the potential to transform to an economy whose primary purpose is not to convert natural resources to toxics and garbage, which will take decades, then maybe the corner can be turned.

But you have to give them kudos for finally pointing in the right direction.

It's been said that Victory Gardens provided 30 to 40 percent of the vegetables consumed by the US in some years during World War II. Probably it was accomplished with less energy usage than on commercial farms. To repeat that today would be more difficult.
Good work Higg on your documentation. I dedicated myself to learning to garden for semi self-sufficiency, and with more mouths to feed I've found that animal husbandry is probably more important. Also foraging and hunting. Potatoes are easy to grow and I wish up North someone would select for a cold hardy sweet potato/yam. But we have lots of good choices, just not as yummy. Rabbits and eggs are the focus.
There are 3 gardening related things I'm working on: cost, calories, and nutrition. The tomatoes fall under cost. A good organically grown medium sized tomato is up to about $1. Most of the calories will be taken care of by grain storage. I'm picking up 125 pounds of bulk grains today. This order will be mostly organic rolled oats at about $1.02 per pound. Potatoes will also be important for calories and am planning to start growing those in the Spring. The beds are being prepared now. For nutrition, wheatgrass, previously mentioned, is good and a tray can be ready in about a week. Not many calories, but a lot of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc. Today's tray is shown below. The wheatgrass mats are then turned upside down and put into the garden beds. Sort of like a mini cover crop that can be done in the heat. The heat is forecast to break this week and we will have rains with highs around 80. Then I can move onto regular cover cropping.

I tested the pH of the soil being used to grow the wheatgrass and it's 7. That's mainly due to the caliche around here. If the pH were on the acid side, I wouldn't use aluminum baking pans to grow wheatgrass. I don't have enough clay pots for all that is being grown.

Hello Higg,

Just wanted to say hello again, and I see that you continue to post interesting projections of the future.

The Presidential election now only days away seems to set up two completely different trajectories for America and therefore globally.

It seems neck and neck. In terms of your projections does it actually matter who wins?

Best wishes to you, Higg.
Richard
This would really be something for John to weigh in on, if possible.

I posted some quotes from Strauss and Howe saying the Gray Champion must come and come he will. I guess that implies Trump wins and takes us through the crisis. Almost certainly it can be said that Biden wasn't our Gray Champion. At the same time, I asked the question that if Trump doesn't win, does that imply that we ride into the new dark age with Kamala at the helm and a potentially worse outcome ahead because the Gray Champion did not come as required?

We may not wish the Gray Champion to come again—but come he must, and come he will.
Thus will the Gray Champion ride once more.
If it's not to be Trump, then who? Or do we not get our Gray Champion and descend into a new dark age with Kamala at the helm?
So that's one aspect and I don't have the answer.

My feeling generally is that we've missed the window to resolve the crisis issues in a timely manner. Having missed the window and kicked the can too long, the US has entered a downhill spiral from which there will be no exit. It will drag the rest of the world down with it.
