Re: Comments on the election
I have no idea who will win the election, and election results can't be predicted anyway. I think some elections can be predicted, particularly early in a generational cycle, but this is definitely not such an election. I see this one as being too close to call right up until the last vote is count...

Re: A New Way forward?
Speaking as a software person myself, I would not trust any such system designed and built during a Crisis era. There is an old hacker saying about software: "If it can be written, it can be hacked." It is theoretically possible to design such a system to be reasonably secure (no computer system is ...

Re: food prices
... Farmers are not dummies. If the price of a food item goes up sufficiently, they plant more. ... Not if they are already planting at the maximum capacity of their fields. Not if their fields are in an extreme drought zone. Not if they can make more money from subsidies for growing (or *not* grow...

Possible Crisis Tipping Point in October?
In perusing the many official and unofficial news sources I monitor, I came across this article that suggests the worlds biggest investors may be preparing for a catastrophic financial meltdown in Europe and possibly the US as soon as October. Such an event could potentially involve the total collap...

Re: WW3 will never happen
The problem with MAD is this: when one side believes that the other side will not have the fortitude to use their destructive capability, MAD ceases to be a deterrent to that side. It also ceases to be a deterrent when one side is willing to accept obliteration in exchange for destroying the opponen...

Re: Why has Mexico not had a crisis in so long?
Additionally, the drug cartels have become the de facto leaders of the northern parts of Mexico and have actually made parts of the US in Texas and Arizona so dangerous that the Border Patrol has basically given up and set out signs warning US citizens to stay away. The cartels began gaining power ...

Re: Why has Mexico not had a crisis in so long?
If a country goes through an entire Crisis era with no actual crisis, then it enters a new era, a "Fifth Turning," which has different characteristics from turnings 1-4. I've been thinking about the Fifth Turning problem a lot lately and analyzing the behaviors and values of the Millenials around m...

Re: Why has Mexico not had a crisis in so long?
When could we expect a crisis to develop in Mexico? And could the flux of foreign immigrants into a country be predictable? Surely it has an effect on both the country with the large amount of immigrants and the country losing them. Any ideas? I would argue that Mexico has already entered the openi...

John, http://www.generationaldynamics.com/cgi-bin/D.PL?s=9Jx6aB&d=ww2010.book.depression#lab100198 says that the 2000s were supposed to be the decade of the next Great Depression. Obviously, that didn't happen. We may have had bad recessions, but certainly not a depression. I'm in the process of re...

Re: Frugality
I think frugality and "green living" are hallmarks of Prophet and Hero generational types. During an Awakening Era, Prophets turn to frugality and Earth-conscious living out of idealism and as part of a greater social awareness. During a Crisis Era, Heros turn to those same ideals out of necessity. ...
