Re: 5-Aug-17 World View -- China further escalates the rhetoric threatening India over Doklam Plateau
It depends on what you mean by "get involved." For example, in a war between India and China, the US might provide satellite intelligence to India from day one. Also, I read somewhere that India only has enough ammunition to last 30 days, so the US or Russia might start supplying ammunition right a...

Re: 5-Aug-17 World View -- China further escalates the rhetoric threatening India over Doklam Plateau
If you're asking me, I'm not a psychic, but I would assume a few weeks to a few months. I guess I was meaning do you think the US is more likely to enter in fairly quickly, or would it take some time of political consideration or a direct attack to get us involved? After all, we waited two years to...

When China and India go to war, what do you think the immediate response of the international community will be, and how long will it take for other nations, particularly Pakistan, Russia, and the US to get involved?

Re: Is length of a crisis war related to size of country?
That makes a lot of sense. I think chance has a lot to do with the length, e.g. French revolution & Napoleonic wars lasting 23 years, as opposed to the war of the Spanish succession lasting 7/10.
Also the difference between China's revolution (15/16 years) opposed to India's partition (a few months).

I certainly will! I too suspect that Sudan contains several different timelines, perhaps divided between South Sudan, "North" Sudan, and Darfur. But it will take quite a bit of research. When I've finished I will post my results

Re: 17-Jun-17 World View -- Djibouti, Eritrea border clash looms after Qatar withdraws peacekeepers
Interesting! But how were the local Sudanese involved? The descriptions above seems to involve the British and the Indians, who were both in a crisis war/era (I'm not sure if WWII counts as part of the crisis war for India, but the more I read about India's involvement the more I'm inclined to think...

Re: Sanctions on China
Well said. I wish he had had more time to elaborate on his views on China, but it was very sobering to hear generational dynamics in action. He literally said we may have to risk a catastrophic war with China if that will solve the issues with North Korea and China's aggressive foreign policy. It wa...

Brief generational history of the Darfur civil war in Sudan In your article you mentioned that the last crisis war for Darfur was WWII? But how can that be? There were no campaigns in Sudan and to my knowledge it was a non-crisis war for Sudan if it affected Sudan at all. From what I've read there ...

Sanctions on China
So I was talking with an acquaintance who is a retired US commander about the situation in N Korea. He believes North Korea poses an existential threat to the US and suggested two possible solutions short of a pre-emptive strike: let S Korea and Japan have nuclear weapons, and if necessary impose sa...

Re: 18-Apr-17 World View -- Worries grow that India is 'losing Kashmir,' as violence increases
Has anyone done research into India's crisis wars that preceded the 1857 Rebellion? The Battle of Plassey c. 1760 seems a somewhat likely candidate for a crisis climax in Bengal, and I've also read that Delhi was sacked sometime in the mid 1700s by Afghans & Persians. Meanwhile there was apparently ...
