Re: 29-Sep-17 World View -- Burma's (Myanmar's) leaders may be inspired by Pol Pot's Cambodian 'Killing Fields' genocide

I think "guest" is missing the forest for the trees. Religion, like language, ethnicity, shared history, etc form the shared characteristics that define membership in a nation. When one nation, defined by it's common religion, language, ethnicity, etc, comes into conflict with an "other'", these dif...

Re: 30-Sep-17 World View -- Steve Bannon and Henry Kissinger form project to sound alarm on China

China is the number one threat to our national security, I truly don't know why this is controversial. This may sound dumb, but I've been aware of this since I was at least 10 years old. They were commies who flew migs with red stars on them, that was all I needed to know. I grew up after the cold w...

So you say that the "Holocaust killed about 5 million people, which was about 3% of Germany's population at the time." At what time was Germany's population 166 million? What point are you trying to make with the false data? Germany's population around 1940 was more like 70 million. You also say: "...

To do this he must amend the constitution, a perfectly legal > thing to do. The opposition MP's stand in his way so it wa...

Re: 27-Sep-17 World View -- Israel may be the only country recognizing the Iraq Kurdistan referendum

The proof will be if the they're able to secure a seat in the general assembly. I think it is important to note that this is the proof of independence not the cause of it. The UN membership is sometimes achieved by states long after they are effectively self ruled and recognized my several other go...

Re: 27-Sep-17 World View -- Israel may be the only country recognizing the Iraq Kurdistan referendum

What will be the result of this declaration? It seams to me that Iraqi Kurdistan is already de facto independent. The proof will be whether or not they're able to secure a seat in the general assembly. At that point it will be official. Until then, I expect to see some pretty significant push back ...

Re: 26-Sep-17 World View -- US adopts strategic response to North Korea's threats to shoot down US warplanes

I'm finding China's conditional support suspect. I really have had a hard time figuring out how much NK PRC are in coordination. It sounds like this conditional support is just another ploy for time (that we have seen time and time again). It shifts the initiative for NK to start the conflict (and ...
