Re: Financial topics
The market flash crashed after they got their $85 billion in QE on December 12, so that alone wasn't enough. Bonds had been falling since mid November, probably as growth dipped below zero at that time. I think by year end the politicians knew that they had better piece a deal together, or else. In ...

Re: Financial topics
No gain means interest rates go up and investors flee bonds which boosts stocks very temporarily, then investors flee stocks - my opinion. Also, you can clear malinvestment with zero growth - if you don't have a debt bubble.

Re: Financial topics
Getting away from charts and numbers, the thing that struck me as being odd recently was how the market ignored the 0.1% decline in GDP. Had military spending not been cut, the GDP would have grown some - I think about 1.2%. It seemed like the reaction was - oh, it's just military spending, doesn't ...

Re: Financial topics
I find the decay rate an interesting facet, or I mean the other side to view as in turning it 180 degrees to see the ROC noted. The ROC from March 6, 2009 to May 2, 2011 is identical to the ROC from October 4, 2011 to February 8, 2013. Or, more specifically, the slopes of the trendlines between tho...

Re: Financial topics
In the first graphic it appears that the small box way over on the right of the chart is a fractal of the large box that occupies most of the chart. That can be seen a lot better by looking at an hourly chart of the small box. In both boxes, the series missed the big spikes in the middle of the boxe...

Re: Financial topics
In a post to jcsok a few weeks back I mentioned cycle decay in the stock market. On the following dates the stock market made highs: 5/02/2011 4/02/2012 (336 days later) 9/14/2012 (165 days later) 12/3/2012 (80 days later) 1/11/2013 (39 days later) 165/336 = 0.491, 80/165 = 0.485, 39/80 = 0.488. Re: Financial topics
Seems right. The action of the past 2 days looks to be saying, "getting ready, but not done yet". No net progress but no net loss either. There could be a multi month rotation around this approximate level from the inflection points mentioned.aedens wrote:No windows now just a early point to ponder on now H.
