Re: Identity

When I first heard it I thought it was just Elon being Elon but it is starting to look like that is the best explanation for reality. His concluding point was the most important "Either we will create simulations indistinguishable from reality or civilization will cease to exist". Taken from GD and...

Re: Catholic Answers article on the Singularity

John, Still trying to chew through that monster of a post. I have seen you write about fifth turnings but I don't think I've seen anything written about them in the books. From what you have written a fifth turning sounds like a collective decision to put your head in the sand. If a society is able ...

Turkey is in a generational Crisis era, and Erdogan's emotions are
driven by an extremely nationalistic and xenophobic population.

Re: Catholic Answers article on the Singularity

SOCIALIST! I did it. I touched the butt ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCoKdqXfpBw ) I'm against it. If everything plays out "as it should" (whatever that means) everything that one would "need" would become so inexpensive and the means of creating the required wealth so easy there wouldn't be a ...

Re: Catholic Answers article on the Singularity

But who (or what) decides WHAT to MAKE (and what to do with it) within the economy? ..I've really got no problem being a well looked after pet, as long as I can be creative and take my own risks as I see fit. That's what the AI wants you to think ;) In all seriousness this idea wreaks of 18th(?) ce...

Re: Economic centralization

I think that a large part of adaptation that "needs to occur"/executed well is their psychological understanding. Clearly that is one of their strengths. Think inception, how far down can you go? If psychology and IT/AI is to play a larger role in the upcoming conflict in the eastern theater, I won...

Re: Identity

So far as I can tell there are only two "realms" or "realities" that we as humans inhibit: the internal and the external. The internal is the "realm of the mind" and the external is the "physical universe". Within the mental sphere there seems two main sub-spheres that human minds inhibit: the logi...

Re: Catholic Answers article on the Singularity

(Not sure if this is repetitive)

This also clearly lays out a path for large segments of the workforce being automated. Much the same way women got jobs in WWII and when men came back they didn't give them up the same will probably be said for a lot of jobs that will soon get automated.
