An Invasion of a Country?

Post by Alosito79 »

Suppose a foreign power were to invade the USA?

We know if it was a Fourth Turning Invasion a a Hero Generation is already young adult.

But what about a First Turning invasion?

The War if 1812 is an example for the US?
With a Young Adult Artist generation taking in command saving the Hero generals from humiliation.

Another example is if the Soviets invaded the US in 1980?

If a country is invaded, the people will behave in accordance with
their generational era. In an Awakening era, the people will respond
to the invasion more passively thanin a Crisis era, where they'll
respond with maximum violence.

No matter what the generational era is, an unexpected invasion
that's extremely severe will cause the country to have a
"First Turning reset."

A First Turning reset occurs when a country is in a non-crisis era
(such as an Awakening era), and there's an unexpected invasion or
relocation that's so brutal that it destroys the normal generational
relationships. The country fights the invasion according to the
behaviors of its generational era (e.g., an Awakening era), but when
the war ends, it reverts to a First Turning Recovery era.

Note that a Second Turning Awakening era can only occur after a First
Turning. A Third Turning Unraveling era can only occur after a Second
Turning. A Fourth Turning Crisis era can only occur after a Third
Turning. If there's no crisis war during the Fourth Turning, then
there's a distinctly different Fifth Turning.

Turnings cannot occur in any other order, and a turning cannot last
longer than a single generation, around 20 years. However, a First
Turning reset can occur from any turning if there's an unexpected
invasion.

The Soviets had no intention of invading the US, had the cold war went hot, it would have been Europe who would have been the direct battlefield of the war. The standoff between the US and USSR was over fate of Europe and who controlled Europe, not an attempt by the superpowers to carry out direct military dominance over their opponents mainlands.

For better portrayal as an L1 (1st Language) English speaker:

had the cold war went hot ---> had the cold war GONE | GOTTEN hot
it would have been Europe who would have been ---> it would have been Europe THAT would have been
standoff between the US and USSR was over {} fate of Europe ---> standoff between the US and USSR was over THE fate of Europe
dominance over their opponents mainlands ---> dominance over their opponents' mainlands

An invasion would abbreviate that cycle and or Saeculum apparent after the “First Turning Reset.”
Strauss and Howe I think go into First Turning Reset when the Civil War intruded earlier than expected. It had 1T and 2T but the 3-4T were abbreviated. So Civil War broke out in Unraveling era in 1861.

Eras following the Revolutionary War:

1782 - Revolutionary war crisis climax
1782-1899 - First Turning Recovery Era
1800-1820 - Second Turning Awakening Era
1820-1840 - Third Turning Unraveling era
1841- 1860 - Fourth Turning Crisis Era
1861-1865 - Fifth Turning - Civil War
1865 - Civil War crisis climax
1865-1883 - First Turning Recovery Era

You can figure these eras out for yourself. Eras and generations are
generated not by events but by numbers of years, starting with the
climax of the crisis war. If a crisis war climaxes in year YYYY,
then:

Eras:
YYYY+00 to YYYY+18: Recovery era
YYYY+19 to YYYY+38: Awakening era
YYYY+39 to YYYY+58: Unraveling era
YYYY+59 to YYYY+78: Crisis era
YYYY+79 ..........: Fifth Turning

Birth years of generations:
YYYY-04 to YYYY+14: Prophets
YYYY+15 to YYYY+34: Nomads
YYYY+35 to YYYY+54: Heroes
YYYY+55 to YYYY+74: Artists

Plenty of examples of possible and hypothetical “First Turning Reset”s:

1962-If Cuban Missle crisis turned hot.

1984-Red Dawn if Ussr invaded anywhere.

1990-NES Rocket Ranger WWII set in the 1990’s where Nazis are aliens and invade the world. :D

Another interesting point if a World War breaks out and all the nations involved are in different turnings.
