Would it be possible to give users the ability to change the forum theme? I've always found prosilver fonts annoying.

OK. Pick out a couple of tasteful themes from the 150 or so provided
here.

http://www.phpbbhacks.com/styles.php

After that, I'll see if I can figure out how to install them.

Sincerely,

John

What about Avalon or Avalon Blue as a secondary option? They look similar to prosilver, and although they aren't as nice, they have different fonts.

Suggestion: A new thread for every article/blog post.

Just something to consider.

I'm sort of doing that now, by specifying a specific thread at the end
of every weblog article.

During the last week I've had a couple of dozen user registrations
with ".ru" IPs or e-mail addresses. I have a feeling that the spam
bots are massing for an assault.

So I've enabled an option that requires postings to be approved
before they'll appear. This restriction won't apply to anyone who
has already had 3 postings, and it will be removed for any new member
who has three postings approved.

I apologize if this causes any inconvenience. If there are any
problems, please let me know.

Sincerely,

John

This has been changed from "3 postings" to "2 postings."

May I suggest adding RSS to the forums? I don't know how you'd do that but I think phpBB has the ability.
I, and I'm sure others, would appreciate it. If RSS is already available, could you point me towards the instructions on how to subscribe? I already subscribe to the main Web Log RSS.

Thanks

Much to my own shock and surprise, I've actually done this.

The URL for the new forum feed is:

http://www.generationaldynamics.com/cgi ... .forum.rss

I would ask all forum members who use RSS to please test this out
and tell me whether it's working for you or not, or if there
are any issues.

Once somebody posts a new message in the forum, the RSS feed should
be updated within 1-3 minutes, assuming everthing works ok.

One thing I don't like about this is that it's going to encourage
more spammers, since spam messages would appear in people's RSS
feeds before I get a chance to delete the spam messages. However,
I can't think of a simple workaround for that.

If everything seems ok, then I'll announce the new RSS feed
in the web log.

Thanks,

John
