The web site has been down most of the last two days because of
problems at Network Solutions. Apparently there was some major virus
attack on their Linux servers. Things were OK for a few hours on
Friday, but then went down again. Now it's back up again, hopefully
for good, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's now been a full week that this web site has been barely up due to
some kind of massive crisis at Network Solutions.

There are a lot of people being screwed by this. Here's the Network
Solutions forum thread discussing it:

I've been posting as "GDJohn".

I'm not sure what happened, but apparently Network Solutions restored the sql server
database back to Sunday morning, meaning that all messages posted since then have
disappeared.

Not sure, but it may actually have been back to sometime Saturday.

The forum's mysql database went down on Friday evening
around 11:30 pm ET. I called Network Solutions customer service
(always a lot of fun) and they got it up again, apparently with
no loss of data.

The Generational Dynamics web site was attacked by hackers
on Friday and crashed. The site will be brought back up
over the weekend with limited functionality and content.
All content will be available again in a few days.

No data was lost from the Generational Dynamics forum.

I may have lost some e-mail messages sent to me on Friday.
Please consider re-sending any messages that you sent between
11 am and 7 pm ET.

RSS for the forum will be unavailable for a few days.

If you have any problems, please let me know. As before, I apologize
for any inconvenience.

I hope and pray that putting the forum into a new domain
all its own will help end all the craziness.

There was a temporary problem where people were being logged out
unexpectedly. It's been fixed now.

Ever since the GenerationalDynamics.com web site suffered a major
attack in March (apparently though not certainly by Chinese hackers),
I've been using the time I had available to focus on content, which
meant that some features of the web site remained unavailable. I've
been restoring these features one at a time, as time allowed, and I'm
pleased to announce that the RSS feeds have finally been restored,
including the RSS feed for the forum.

The new links to the RSS feeds are on the home page. They are as
follows:

Generational Dynamics: Web Log News Feed
http://generationaldynamics.com/cgi-bin ... rss=weblog

Generational Dynamics: Analysis News Feed
http://generationaldynamics.com/cgi-bin/gdrss.pl?rss=i

Generational Dynamics: Forum News Feed
