This morning I upgraded the forum software. It looks like I
successfully transferred all the files and images, and that everything
is ok. Let me know if there are any problems.

The GenerationalDynamics.com web site is down this morning.

I've been told that it's because the ISP uses Comcast, and Comcast
is having an outage.

Hello John!

Haven't commented in here for a while (sometime last year)...but ALWAYS reading and learning in here everyday! Just a suggestion, probably not that it matters with all the crap going in the "State Of The World"...but I think you need to update the "State Of The World" numbers, and add one too. ;-)

My suggestions, but I would gladly defer to your expertise numbers, are as follows.

W. Europe: 3
Russia Caucasus: 3
China: 3
Financial: 3
Arab Israeli: 3
Kashmir: 2
North Korea: 2
Swine/Bird flu (and here is where you could add Ebola too): 3

The wife and I were living in Las Vegas from September 2012 to September 2013, but then had to move to near Knoxville TN ("Maynardville" to be Lt. Aldo Raine from Inglourious Basterds exact) to take care of my wife's mother who has 7th stage Alzheimer's. We're planning on moving back to Vegas sometime next spring. We sincerely hope so anyway, that is, if Ebola doesn't have it's bye-bye-Miss-American-and-The-Strip-pie.

Otherwise...all the best to you and yours,
Gene (Iceman)

Gene,

Tom Mazanec has asked me to do the same thing. And you're both right
-- it has to be done. I've been putting it off because it's a bit of
a project, but I'll try to do it soon.

John,

Take your time, just an after-look-up thought. :) Otherwise...appreciate it and Youdaman!

In the better late than never department, this morning I finally got
around to installing the new version of PHPbb.

As far as I can tell, everything went well. The tricky part is making
sure that all the graphics that people attach to posts come over OK,
and as far as I can tell, they did.

The upgraded user interface has lots of new features that should make
it easier to use. In particular, it should now work better on smaller
form factors, such as mobile phones (though not as well as I'd like).

Here are two new things to check out:
  • Near the top of the screen, on the left, click on "Quick links"
    for some helpful links.
  • Near the top of the screen, on the right, click on "Notifications" and
then click on "Settings" in the pop-down. You will be able to add new
notifications, such as being notified whenever someone quotes you in a post,
which is particularly useful for paranoiacs.

Let me know if there are any questions or problems.

John
