Generational Dynamics Forum - New Site

Hi John / all,

Anyone know what happened to The Fourth Turning Forum?

Did it incur some sort of attack or was there some other issue?

It's been in some sort of database lockout condition now for at least 4 days.

I used to be on the leadership team of a Geopolitical Forum, some years ago, and the Russians attacked us. They wiped out all our data.

I hope nothing bad happened to TFT.

I have no idea, and I've been wondering the same thing.

What I've seen is that it works OK in reading messages, but it gets
sql errors when you log in. This looks like good news in the sense
that the messages table of the database appears to be intact, while
one of the other tables has been damaged. However, unless
someone has been making backups of the database, there may
still be messages lost.

It used to be that if there was a problem, one could send e-mail to
Craig Cheslog, and he could take care of things. Today, I have no
idea who one could write to. I'd offer to help if I knew who to ask.

Both the Generational Dynamics web site and the Generational Dynamics
forum are under a constant low-level attack, 24x365, apparently by
some Chinese hackers.

To be safe, I just downloaded a new backup of the forum database.

The TFT forum has been down now for over a week, with no sign that
anything's happening.

It's possible that what happened is that whoever the administrator is
put the forum on "autopilot," and doesn't even know that there's a
problem, or knows but doesn't give a shit.
