FMC Corporation (NYSE: FMC) today announced that the company is reducing its fourth quarter 2020 outlook. The company is proceeding through its quarterly close, and based on preliminary results expects fourth quarter revenue of approximately $1.15 billion as compared with prior guidance of $1.23 to $1.29 billion, and fourth quarter adjusted EBITDA in the range of $285 to $295 million as compared with prior guidance of $335 to $355 million. Full-year free cash flow guidance of $475 to $525 million in 2020 remains unchanged. The company expects 2021 outlook at or somewhat above long-range plan targets of 5 to 7 percent revenue growth and 7 to 9 percent adjusted EBITDA growth.

In North America, sales were impacted due to supply chain disruptions, including COVID-related factors associated with logistics and a tolling partner. These events occurred during the traditionally busy month of December, resulting in some products not being delivered to customers by quarter end. The company expects a large proportion of those sales will be recognized in first quarter 2021. In Brazil, sales were lower than forecasted due to severe drought that persisted throughout the fourth quarter, resulting in lower demand. The company expects these conditions to continue through first quarter 2021. In Argentina, substantial product inventory located in bonded warehouses was not released by customs officials in a timely manner. This inventory is expected to be released, and sales completed, in first quarter 2021.

So far the street is pretty much shrugging this off. That's what I would expect, but I am not.

Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis downgraded Coherent (NASDAQ: COHR) from Equalweight to Underweight with a price target of $140.00 (from $125.00).

The analyst comments "We downgrade to UW as the stock has gotten ahead of the opportunity and estimates look too high for both March and CY 21/22. COHR is the best performer in our coverage over the last month (29% vs. SOX 9%) but unlike the group where most will be beating/raising at earnings, we see estimates moving lower. Our PT moves to $140.OLED Ramp a Flatter Curve:"

One week later the stock is sitting at 202.50 pre-market on a buyout.

FMC is moving lower since I posted the above.

The reason that you say that is because you're too clueless to
understand that Biden's and Yellen's $1.4 trillion aid package is
going to make us all prosperous. In fact, what you fail to realize is
that prosperity is just around the corner.

aeden, I really like your observation that "Stocks are for rent." Better to rent minute by minute than to sign a lease. If someone had to take delivery of stock certificates on every buy, where would the averages be?

How much they slam LITE on the buyout will be somewhat telling too, I guess.

I suspect that Wall Street has been in the process of making the Biden admin understand that part of continuing "prosperity" is that it will be impossible to tax stock transactions, as the only way to keep the merry-go-round going is to spin it faster and faster. I think the liberal wing of the democratic party will go berserk when they are told Wall Street cannot be taxed.

Apparently Yellen will be testifying at 10 am, and she's going to use
the phrase "Go big," meaning that the $1.4 billion will be only the
beginning. That should keep the merry-go-round going without taxes.

Oh wait. Now they're saying that banks will have to pay billions of
dollars more in taxes.
