Tesla is down over 10% and S*P down more than 2%.
By the end of the day it might be enough news to get people to think about selling stocks over the weekend...
Maybe a few margin calls.
The recovery started after 3 pm and looks like a short squeeze rather than a reflection of broad market sentiment. The average fpor the day was well down, in line with what you are saying

Monday May 30th is Memorial Day holiday. So next weekend is a 3 day weekend. May 31st would be a good day for a crash. :-)

Precisely what we said in 2013: Presenting The Best Trading Strategy In This Market: Buy The Most Hated Stocks, Short The Most Widely Held.
Since then, shorting the most popular names, and going long the most shorted has generated a double digit "alpha" CAGR in the past decade.

If something happens to cause the crash, then yes.
But if the market is going to drift down until a panic ensues then I dont think that there has been enough drifting yet. For instance there's a support level at 3810, and so on. I reckon we need at decisive break below 3500 to create panic.

In bubbles its the private individuals rather than the professional institutional investors that throw caution to the wind (the professionals tend to hedge in one or another) and I would think that a lot of the buying since about November 2020 was private individuals, or on their behalf, and it was about this time that the S&P index firmly rose through the 3500 level. So when this level is theatened I could imagine a panic crash.
