"Since inception, the Big Mac Index has increased much faster than the CPI. In just the last 30 years (1992-2021), the CPI inflation was 91% or about 3% annually, but the Big Mac Index increased 158% or 5.2% annually.

"That’s a big difference. If your wages, COLA, or Social Security are tied to CPI, you lose ground every year. And it gets worse the longer it persists.

"A 3% inflation rate doubles your cost of living in 24 years, but 5.2% rate doubles it in less than 14. The longer it goes, the worse it gets for you.
[...]

"Unfortunately, you pay your bills in a Big Mac Index world, not a CPI world. So, if you feel you are losing ground, you may be — and now you know why."

Germany's producer price index is up 18.4%.
Last month it was "only" 14.2%.
"German Producer Prices Rise at Fastest Annual Pace in Almost 70 Years "

Germans have had hyperinflation twice already in the last 100 years and are not looking forward to a 3rd time.

“We’ve had all-time record levels of insider selling meaning that the top executives, the people that are the most experienced investors in the world, have been pretty much spending all year getting rid of their stakes in some cases and unloading huge amounts of shares they have accumulated for decades,” said Kaplan.
[...]

“So I think that the people that have the most knowledge are the most worried about a drop and people that have the least experience in some cases, maybe just started trading in the past year or so, consistently, are the most aggressive and the most optimistic about what’s going to happen,” Kaplan said.

“History has shown us that when you have that big a difference in opinion from the most experienced to the least experienced people that the most experienced ones always come out on top,” he said, adding that the opposite has also held true with big insiders buying at crucial moments, such as in March 2009.

"Billionaire investor Chamath Palihapitiya flags concerns about sky-high inflation and rampant money printing

Palihapitiya said on his All In podcast at the weekend that he thinks strong inflation is here to stay, saying it will be "persistent."

"Two entrepreneurs who I've considered to be the smartest capital allocators of our generation are taking chips off the table," Palihapitiya wrote in the letter.

Mohamed El-Erian has said inflation is here to stay and that the Federal Reserve has made one of the worst judgments in its history by dismissing price rises as transitory.

I think more and more people are coming to the view of the market is high and inflation is high.

Waukesha City police scanner:

At 4:47 pm Officer: “A maroon Ford Escape just blew by.. heading into the parade route.”

Another officer: “A red Escape, black male (driver)..I couldn’t stop it, going west bound..”

Unintelligible officers yelling into the radio.

Dispatcher: Asking if anyone is hit. “I need an update please.”
Officer: “Shots fired Main (Street). 10-52!”

Officer: “We have multiple casualties, …we need multiple 10-52s (Ambulance needed), multiple 10-52s”

Fire Dispatch (computer voice – easy to understand) Dispatch tones: “Station 4, Station 2, Station 1, Station 3, and Station 5, unknown incident type, Downtown.” (Waukesha only has five fire stations. They sent everyone they had.)

Officer yelling: “We have about 10 to 15 people down in the street.”

Another officer yelling: “30 people down! 30 people down!”

Officers: “40 Casualties on Main Street! We have multiple critical patients! Alert ALL the hospitals!” CPR in progress.

Seven years later, when I went back to Berkeley to get my MBA, the campus was MUCH more dangerous. The goons from Oakland had become very brazen in just a few years - they were entering campus buildings and raping female students. Everyone in my MBA cohort got a daily campus police briefing about crime on and around the Berkeley campus, as an attempt to keep us safe.

It wasn't like that when I first came to campus in 1988! It was pretty discouraging, what had happened to Oakland.

Now the entire human existence in the SF Bay Area is a pathetic Lefty disaster.

I URGE EVERY LAST BUSINESS TO LEAVE THAT STATE.

To view Wirepoints’ detailed, actuarially-scored baseline retirement restructuring plan, read Wirepoints’ Special Report: Solving Illinois’ Pension Problem: Why It’s Legal, Why It’s Necessary, and What It Looks Like.
