** 25-May-2022 World View: Russian blockade of Ukraine's ports

Bloomberg tv has just claimed that Putin has agreed to unblock some
Ukraine ports so that wheat and other farm products can be exported.
Ukraine is the breadbasket of the world, and Russia's blockade has
been threatening famines in multiple countries this summer.

** 26-May-2022 World View: China's premier warns that economy is at a 'critical point'

A number of analysts have been warning recently that China's economy
is in difficulty. Most of the blame has been attributed to Xi
Jinping's "Zero Covid" policy, which has become a huge ego issue,
because it has been failing recently, and threatens Xi's Mandate from
Heaven. Shanghai, which is China's manufacturing center, was totally
shutdown (in lockdown) for months, crippling manufacture and exports.
Shanghai still is in serious distress, although the Covid rate has
apparently peaked and is beginning to come down.

However, it's turning into a whack-a-mole situation. Covid
in Shanghai crippled China's manufacturing, but now Covid is
increasing in Beijing, threatening to cripple China's commerce
and politics.

So in this context, China's Premier Li Keqiang held an extraordinary
nationwide videoconference, in which he made some extraordinary
warnings about the state of the economy, saying that it was at a
"critical point," and that government officials at all levels --
provincial, city-level, county-level and local level -- must all have
"a stronger sense of urgency to ensure that the policies and measures
determined by the Central Economic Work Conference and the 'Government
Work Report' are basically implemented."

The following is an excerpted machine translation of the
article in Chinese media news.cn:
> "Li Keqiang said that since the beginning of this
> year, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee

I'm in the same class of nutcase like Harari? Interesting. We're diametrically opposed.

I have heard Putin gave the orders to open shipments out of Ukraine for food exports, btw.

Kissinger is 99 today, so may be not as sharp as he was.

As for the appeasement of Putin, that did not work well with the Crimea, he just came back for more.

Ukraine may be losing some ground in the Donbas at the moment, but they are being reequipped with NATO standard arms and will grow stronger while the Russian forces are getting to the limit of their equipment, spare parts and readily available personal (Hence the T-62 tanks being pulled from deep storage, 63 YO ex general getting shot down in an SU-25).

This war will drag on for some time, but Putin must not win, or he (or who ever comes after him) will just keep coming back for more.

Recent posts from China indicate that the Chinese Communists are
taking advantage of the Ukraine situation, and are fully mobilizing
for war against Taiwan and the West later this year.

This is a very interesting subject, that I've heard both ways.
Western intelligence sources have repeatedly said that Russia has
moved its Far East troops to Ukraine, but here you have a Chinese
source apparently claiming that Russia's best troops are in the Far
East. Which is true?

The most important point, and one that is rarely mentioned, is that
the Chinese Communists consider Russia's Far East and Vladivostok to
be historical Chinese territories -- like Taiwan, the South China Sea,
Hong Kong, parts of India and Central Asia -- and that China lost
Russia's Far East because of its "unfair treaties" delusion.

Russia knows this, and knows that the Chinese Communists will invade
the Far East and Vladivostok if given the chance, just as they would
invade Taiwan.

So why is China supposedly claiming that Russia's elite troops are in
the Far East? They really couldn't say otherwise, since the Russian's
would feel threatened that a Far East invasion might be imminent,
along with Taiwan. China is certainly going to double-cross the idiot
Putin, just as Hitler double-crossed the idiot Stalin, but China has
to keep Russia as an ally to support its delusional insanity of world
domination.

Does Russia have elite troops in the Far East? There are certainly
some in the Vladivostok Naval Base, and my guess is that there are
enough so that the Russians can believe that they're safe from a
Chinese invasion, while most of them have been transferred to Ukraine.
So it's possible that both the Western and Chinese claims are true.
