Why not move to a location where you can make ends meet? Say Shreveport or Lubbock? I think you live in a pretty high-rent district.

You have a lot to contribute, it would be sad to lose your voice.

How will you do it, John? Eat a bullet? Walk out a fifth floor window? Take a gram of LSD? However you plan to do it, think long and hard what it will be like, what it will look like, how it will feel.

Google "Peaceful Pill Handbook."

https://www.peacefulpillhandbook.com/

It costs $85 for a two-year subscription, and they seem to update it
every month or two. The Peaceful Pill Handbook lists many ways to end
life. There is one exotic "Korean Black Venus" method, apparently
inspired by a movie, where you squeeze the blood vessels in your neck.
I haven't figured it out, but the online book contains a video that
shows you how. They claim it can be done anywhere, anytime, without
drugs or gadgets or anything. It's good for people in prisons or
nursing homes. There are also substances that one can use to bring
about a peaceful end of life, like nembutal, sodium cyanide,
detergents, carbon monoxide, sodium azide, sodium nitrite, and dozens
of others. There are specific instructions for using each one,
including taking something 30 minutes earlier to help prevent
vomiting. There's also a 3-drug coctail of morphine sulphate +
chloral hydrate + Phenobarbita. There are also methods involving
inert gases and plastic bags. In some cases, the needed supplies are
almost impossible to get, while others are readily available. By the
way, the book says that fifth floor window isn't high enough. I've
purchased everything I need from Amazon, and so I'm ready to go at any
time of my choosing, and I know pretty much exactly "what it will be
like, what it will look like, how it will feel."

John,

I think you contribute a lot, and I hope that you would stick around as long as you can contribute.

I would hope that you would consider relocation as a viable alternative. Shreveport and Lubbock are both very nice places. You can get a decent apartment in the downtown district in either place for less than $1K per month and get by with $2K per month total, which makes it doable for someone on a fixed SSA income.

BTW, looking forward to your China book. I am sure your insights are unavailable elsewhere.

You know, I contemplated suicide while I was besieged in Grozny in the Second Chechen War (really). I (obviously) didn't do it. Why not? A lot of reasons, but the point is, I survived the unsurvivable. I escaped the Russians and made it out of there. Now I live in exile, but I'm alive. My life has not be easy, but I'm alive and I can still find some bits and pieces of happiness in my daily life. John, if I can survive war in Chechnya, you can survive too. I don't live that well, but I manage. So can you.

What are your survivors going to think of your cowardly act, John?

I hear there's a subtle variant of the Vulcan Nerve Pinch™ that is both "pleasant" and guarantees admittance to the user's "local" version of Valhal.

And, it's self-inflictable,.. assuming that's an actual word.

Well, the Korean Black Venus method involves rapidly cutting
off oxygen to the brain by doing three things at once,
while the Vulcan nerve pinch is a nerve oriented thing, not
an oxygen or blood thing.

Another possibility is the Vulcan Death Grip:

Trekkies know that the 'Vulcan Death Grip' was not real. Spock called it that to trick people into believing he had killed Captain Kirk. :ugeek:

Firstly: Itʻs "Trekkers".

Secondly: You are quite correct! <chuckle!>

..but,.. MY sources (from within the Vulcan version of the Free (and Accepted) Masons, which weirdly is a "timeline adjusted" offshoot branch of the Jamaican Lodge) say that NP+MM+SS=#P.

(( Translation: Nerve Pinch + Mind Meld + "Secret Sauce" = Unconsciousness and Not Breathing [death if not resuscitated] ))
