This is a good time to repeat that the GenerationalDynamics.com and
gdxforum.com web sites will probably disappear unless someone is
willing to take responsibility for them. It requires some technical
expertise, and costs around $50+ per month for the web hosting and the
periodic domain registration. My preference would be that they be
taken over by an organization -- educational, analyst, business or
government, but I'll consider any offer.

Hi John,

I already manage 5 domain websites on my personal web hosting account. If you wanted to transfer GenerationalDynamics.com and gdxforum.com over, I'm paying for hosting anyway, they would just be two additional domains under my account. You'd lose full autonomy as some things you would have to go through me, but for other things like ftp access and sql database, email, etc, you would have your own individual account. The domain registrar could stay with GoDaddy.com and be renewed annually which would drop your expenditures to only about $20-30 a year.

I use www.netfirms.com as the web hosting company.

Sincerely,
Phong

Phong, if you can, please preserve John's work. It is a masterpiece, and I suspect that someday John will be seen as one of those geniuses who were not appreciated during their lifetimes.

Thanks, that sounds great!

Please send me an e-mail message at john@generationaldynamics.com with
your contact information. Also let me know what the five web sites
you're managing are.

You should be aware that both web sites have been under DDOS attack
for almost ten years. The attack has been continuous, and the attacks
have come from Chinese IP addresses. The intensity has gone down in
the last year, but it's still going on, and probably could increase
again.

That's the reason that the forum is on a different web site with a
different web host than the main web site. I was getting a lot of
flak from web hosting companies because they blamed me for the Chinese
attack, so I split them up. Kris Jurski at Vital Web Hosting stepped
in and saved my life by dealing with the DOS attacks. He's been
incredibly helpful as the attacks took different twists and turns,
helping me instead of blaming me.

I mention all this because you may wish to reconsider the idea of
combining these two web sites with all your others. Your other web
sites may suffer greatly, and your web host may complain to you and
blame you. At the very least, you may have to have a private disk for
all your web sites, if you don't already. It may also be best
to keep the web site on Vital, because they're used to handling it.

One thing that I am considering doing is moving the forum web site to
Vital, since Newtek has had a lot of problems, as regular forum users
may have discovered. But if I do that, I would still keep them in
separate accounts, for protection in case the attacks increase again.

** 13-Apr-2019 Future of Forum

Phong Tran and I have exchanged messages, and unfortunately he will
not be able to take over administering the two sites, for several
reasons related to the Chinese DDOS attacks. He and I will keep in
touch, and we may reconsider in the future if things change.

So once again, I have to repeat that the GenerationalDynamics.com and
gdxforum.com web sites will probably disappear unless someone is
willing to take responsibility for them. It requires some technical
expertise, and costs around $50+ per month for the web hosting and the
periodic domain registration. My preference would be that they be

I estimate that I have 4-5 months left. I try not to think about it
too much. I don't know whether I'm more depressed because of where
I'm going or because of where the world is going.

Nobody else has come forward to take responsibility for the forum.

John,

Do you have any children or family to help you?

What does the website cost per month?

I used to get depressed about what gd says about the future but it’s part of the bigger picture for mankind. God or evolutionary forces will cause the cycle until we destroy ourselves.

Everything in the natural world is at war with each other. Trees and plants race to grow to the sun blocking sunlight from other plant life. The life of insects is brutal and savage. Animals rip each other to pieces and target the babies of others for an easy meal. You need to make peace with yourself and accept it.

No, nobody has come forward. Frankly, I doubt that anyone cares
except for five or ten people. Just watch any newscast on tv
and you can see that the left and the right are equally delusional,
though with different delusions.

The Iran book sold a few dozen copies, and the China book is similar,
so there's no hope of any book sales, and no hope of any funding, and
no hope for any recognition. It would be useful for me to write a
similar book on Russia or India, but I don't have time for anything
like that before I run out of money and can't buy groceries or pay the
rent. So I'm just using the time I have left produce some materials
for the few people who might be interested, and leave it at that.

HTTrack is a "utility" that mirrors whole websites.

I'm not sure it could handle a truly massive site, but it's worth a shot.

Perhaps if there's a "last call" shortly before the site goes "dead" that would be the time to try to capture it to "disk".

https://www.httrack.com/

..or there may be an "administrator" procedure that can zip up the entirety of the forum/website.

I'm not commenting on keeping the site/forum "running", as I certainly don't want to do that.
