First world urban populations survive, for the most part, by being completely dependent on the system. They are not only fine with it, they are proud of it as it gives them more time and resources to devote to unrealistic foolishness. At least in America we have the 2nd amendment and other states to run to. I am not sure what options an average French citizen would have.

Monthly pay in the Russian army is now $5

Just checked Google, which gave 195,000 rubles or $2,535 a month. Not sure if this is before or after the boost.

Russian soldiers collect, on average, to this day, a paltry 20,000 rubles ($220) a month, if they are paid at all. Death bonuses and military disability in the regular army are rarely paid or not paid at all. It is a scandal in Russia. Few, if any Russian soldiers are paid 195,000 rubles per month. Mobilization pay has also gone largely unpaid. Crippled Russian soldiers live in dire poverty. The Russian army officer corps is filled with cowards and common thieves.

Only Wagner PMC and Prigozhin honor its contracts. Westerners have no idea how screwed up Putin's Russia really is. Putin lies about everything. Prigozhin is also a liar but Prigozhin did tell the truth about the war. Prigozhin remains a hero to most Russians.

The Night of Long Knives is coming.

Yevgeny Prigozhin remains Vladimir Vladimirovich 's paramount threat within Russia. And there is no guarantee Putin survives.

That was a one time mobilization bonus, not the monthly pay for an average recruit.

Prigozhin’s march on Moscow may have been aborted, but two weeks on the Kremlin is still reeling from his overt challenge to Vladimir Putin’s power. According to reports, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) has gone so far as to run an initial inquiry into levels of public support, gauged by monitoring social media posts and internet searches by ordinary Russians.

Its findings, intercepted and leaked by Ukrainian intelligence, suggests that 17 of Russia’s 46 regions sided with Prigozhin. Putin had support from just 21 regions, while the remaining eight remained split. Moscow apparently backed the Russian President, but his home city of St Petersburg was ready to throw its support behind the Wagner chief. Public support for Prigozhin in the republic of Dagestan was reportedly as high as 97 per cent.
