Boomers and globalists on this forum are insane radical interventionists if they think that China sending tanks and Armed Police to Hong Kong is something that is worth going to war over. Under international law this is a purely internal matter within China. There is no treaty in which the United States is signatory to here that is being violated in this matter or is potentially being violated.

Yes they are, as also shown by their belief that the US is still country they grew up in and can unite as a whole against an outside enemy. It isn't and it can't. They are going be shocked at what the 2020s are going to bring.

You know my opinion of "International Law", but, yeah,.. it would almost HAVE to be counterproductive to "protect" the protesters in Hong Kong from those "bad guys".

..'though I would like to see the "gad buys" get their asses handed to them,.. which wouldn't happen, but which would be amusing if it did.

China just banned individual travel visas for Chinese citizens trying to visit Taiwan. So for now on, only pre-approved group tours will get visas to visit. The noose is tightening.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has announced that it will no longer
issue individual travel permits to Taiwan for people in 47 mainland
cities, because of the poor state of relations with the self-ruled
island.

This will have an economic effect on Taiwan, because a third of its
tourist industry depends on visits from mainlanders. It's estimated
that Taiwan will lose $900 million in revenue.

It's believed that the CCP's intention is to influence next year's
election against the current president Tsai Ing-wen, leader of the
independence-leaning Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and towards
the Kuomintang party, which favors Taiwan becoming a province of
mainland China.

Tsai says that the move will backfire because it will “punish all
people in Taiwan," not just the DPP.

Tsai's statement is perfectly obvious, but it's never possible
to overestimate the enormous stupdity of CCP officials, as
they stumble from one idiotic policy to the next.

The new CCP pollicy will not affect people in Hong Kong who
want to travel to Taiwan. There are reports of an outflow
of Hong Kongers to Taiwan to escape the CCP army before
it attacks Hong Kong protesters.

Another possible CCP reason for block mainland visits to Taiwan is to
prevent mainlanders from learning the details of the chaos in Hong
Kong, whereas CCP state media portrays the Hong Kong protesters as
violent terrorists.

Separately, the CCP army has just released a training video for the
army to invade Hong Kong and deal with the protesters, and it shows
the army shooting protesters to kill. The video has gone viral on the
mainland, and most mainland social media commenters are calling
for the invasion to begin.

There's a "strange" (perhaps the wrong word) similarity between the "mainland social media commenters" in mainland China and those in the US (and "the West" in general) calling for and in fact "clamoring for" a "crackdown/civil-war" within their respective countries.

The "CH crowd" exists everywhere, it seems. The IDists, who are all "would-be tyrants" of course, appear to be everywhere! Not that that's a surprise.

Having lived in Asia for a long time, I can tell you that many social media accounts are run by government agencies. Thousands (perhaps millions) of social media comments are really just government talking points.

Yeah,.. I'm sure of that.

But I think that there are actual people on both "sides" that have their "reasons" for fomenting civil wars within their OWN SIDES.

CH (and crew) are probably not chinese "surrogates", but they do have some weird interest in stoking "civil war" thinking in "the West" and the US.
