I've been seeing a lot of articles lately claiming South Africa may turn into the next Zimbabwe, but according to generational dynamics this cannot be the case. Zimbabwe's land reform took place in an awakening era and, while devastating, had relatively little violence (except for state repression) associated with it. South Africa is in a crisis era, and therefore is going to experience a crisis war sooner or later. The question is, will land reform catalyze a war between South African's tribes?

You're right, and "land reform" is not going to get that far, for the
reasons you mention, including the possibility of tribal war.

Trump has thoroughly roiled the issue today by issuing a tweet:
> I have asked Secretary of State @SecPompeo to closely study the
> South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the
> large scale killing of farmers. “South African Government is now
> seizing land from white farmers.” @TuckerCarlson @FoxNews
This tweet is infuriating government officials in South Africa.

The interesting thing is that Trump is quoting Tucker Carlson. I
actually heard Tucker Carlson's discussion of this issue last night on
Fox News and, as is typical, Carlson gave a highly ideological
presentation with many facts wrong.

At any rate, Trump's tweet should cause a lot more fallout.
