I was talking to a Korean in his late 40s (47-48) yesterday. He is an idiot. He believes that there will be unification soon and he told me we will soon be driving around North Korea meeting North Koreans. He talked about giving them tangerines as gifts and taking photos. He is stupid! Not just naive, but really stupid! I asked him why Moon's approval ratings were so low and he got mad. "They are still high! Everyone loves him!" OMG. Middle aged Koreans are self-deluded and really stupid! It's dangerous. I wanted to smack him across the face. What a skinny little loser he is.

I met a friend in his mid 30s late last night. He is a former Korean Marine, and he thinks President Moon is stupid. He can't believe that Moon is falling for all of this. South Korea is in danger. He thinks young Koreans are useless and old Koreans are fools. What will become of South Korea? How can the nation survive all of this? Young people do not want to be unified with North Korea. Absolutely not! I want to scream!

I think you are right about generational differences.

Don't trust any South Korean over 40.

The generational divisions are not Korea-isolated, but international. World indoctrination.
Who could not predict the present standoff? Kim is devious and focused on being a nuclear power. (How big a power is part of his delusion.)
Moon is equally delusional to think he is bargaining for peaceful existence. The world has reached this sorry pass by ignoring basic human nature and taking the immediate kick-the-can-down-the-road easy acquiesence to evil. The Charm Offensive was the tinder trap.

China and Russia have been supplying the North with oil and perhaps even food. But is the North paying for any of it? I doubt it. At first it must have been fun to shaft the US and supply stuff to the North; a kind of middle finger to America. Now, however, the economic strains must b immense. I think the Chinese are on the brink. It seems to me that war will happen by Christmas or early next year. Trump plays the game better than anyone. He knows the supply like to North Korea is killing the Chinese. Trumop keeps winning.

And, so, you're telling us you didn't expect that?

We can't be hanging out on the outer layers of "international relations", as there is so much hidden if that's where your concentration is.

Don't expect "the news" to be anything but superficial. If you're "in here", then you are "assumed" to know that there are various inevitabilities of which the only questions are what will trigger them, and what to look for as a sign to monitor the triggers at all.

Panicking does not help. Figuring out how you're gonna deal with the inevitabilities, from "not at all" to "a bunker in Antarctica", is the thing to do, not marveling at the weird news from USAToday! :)
