Political polarization in U.S. may be reaching an irreversible ‘tipping point’
https://www.studyfinds.org/political-po ... ing-point/
Their findings reveal that at this point, extreme polarization becomes irreversible. The team’s predictive model for measuring the behavior of a polarized political group — like the current U.S. Senate — shows that even an attack by a foreign power or another pandemic would not heal the political divide.
And so it goes...

Why can't the multitude of guests get a clue that we don't pay attention to their tripe precisely because they can't own anything they say or have a conversation with anyone else that has any clarity? All of their posts demonstrate just how stupid they are, and how we are right in not responding (for no reason, obviously).

Agreed. If they can't even settle on a nick that at least lets us know it's the same person posting, why should I care what they say?

The three of you may be shocked and surprised to learn this, but the
collective knowledge about the world of the registered members of this
forum, including myself, is not very great. The "multitude of guests"
do us a great service by filling in some of the gaps, especially
during crises like the Korea crisis or the Russia crisis.

I'm not even sure what the issue is. If you're responding to a
posting, all you need to know is the content of the posting. What
difference does it make if the author of the post is "Cool Breeze" or
"Guest"? In fact, knowing the name of the post's author is actually a
disadvantage, since you'll be tempted to make a personal attack on the
author, rather than just responding to the post's content.

When I'm write something, I sometimes reference articles from the
Vietnam News, from the Bangkok Post, from the Uganda Observer, from
Russia Today, and so forth. The author's name may be posted, but that
makes no difference since I wouldn't recognize him anyway. I have to
make a judgment about the credibility of the article based on the
content or the article. I usually do that by comparing it to other
articles, or from my own knowledge. Knowing the name of the author
really doesn't help. In fact, evaluating the credibility of a media
article is similar to evaluating the credibility of a post in this
forum, whether by "Cool Breeze" or "Guest".

These days there are no easy shortcuts, since pretty much everyone is
biased. Just because you recognize tha author of a post or article
doesn't mean that the article is automatically good or bad. You have
to make that judgment in the same way, whether you know the name of
the author or not.

In the meantime, just be grateful that there are "Guests" who are
willing to take the time to provide knowledge that none of us has.
You can agree with it, disagree, or ignore, but it's almost always
valuable.

JX,

You do make good points here, but sometimes we want to respond to some of the guests, as they do put up some interesting questions and offer some tidbits of information. If you'll notice, though, most of the things said by Guests or in posts by Guests are garbage attacks themselves. That's what made a few of us point this out and start asking the idiots to name themselves. By showing a handle, we can counter the foolishness of the posts that is worthwhile to, showing what is false as false and correcting the madness. That's all.

Even if you don't believe that that is what is happening, others I believe also want to see what the counter would be from me, tglee, tommaz, BP, richard, higgie, or aeden. Does that make sense?

For some reason, I don't have a problem ignoring guests who post
garbage. That's why I say I don't understand the issue.

The "Politics, Culture, Music and the Media" sub-forum does not
permit guests. Why don't you and other like-minded people
just start a thread or two in that sub-forum, and post to your
heart's content, without being harassed by guests.

By the way, the Financial and Investments sub-forum also does not
permit guests.

I have been following this website since the end of 2019, when I was more worried about North Korea and China than the coming pandemic which wasn't even on the radar. I find the crying a bit much to say the least. Cool Breeze (real name: Floyd R. Turbo) complaining about American women non-stop to be a lot of garbage. When there is push back, like the guy who lived in Russia, Cool Breeze cries foul. Why? Because that guy knows what he is talking about. All of the women in my family are American. None of them are losers or whores. I have always found Cool Breeze's posts on American to be offensive, but as an American, I tolerate them as part of free speech. I disagree, but I imagine that CB is not much of a catch. Most of the men I know who married foreign women couldn't get an American woman, so they ventured overseas. Nothing wrong with that, just don't blame America women for it.

Burner Prime (real name: Vladimir Vladimirovich Drago) is nothing but an American bashing Kremlin troll. Yes, I believe that too. His constant attacks on my country are absolute BS. Many of the "guests" on the board agree. Is that why Guests like me are an issue?

Those who can dish it out can't take it. I learned that a long time ago.

Thomas claims to have lived half his life in Korea, but hates Koreans. Why did he stay so long? Or did Thomas wear out his welcome? He doesn't like it when Koreans come onto the website and counter attack, does he?

If you can't take the heat...

I liked the Guests take on Russian women. Interesting.

I find "Tim" to be interesting too. "Xeraphim" is spot on with regards to Russia. Russians are bullies and bad neighbors.

I appreciate the Guests who post interesting stories (AND provide links).

I also liked the Guest (from California?) and his report on what is happening in LA. On CNN, I hear any problems there are Trump's fault.

I don't post enough to warrant setting up an account. Now that the thin skinned are crying about it, I will make it point not to.

I find this site an oasis. What John writes about is insightful. I have also purchased his book on China.

Thank you, John.

Yes, Thomas, another sign that you are among the clearest thinkers here. Amen.
