Putin thought that the termination of the American military operation in Afghanistan indicated he had an opening for an attempt to destroy Ukraine's independence. Foolish claims by American commentators regarding the Afghan matter contributed to Putin's blunder.

Well, he is and he's left/libertarian elitist. Who cares, let's move on

Neil Howe was on Wealthion the other day, again saying little to nothing.

Did those guys steal some of John's stuff? He gets paid a lot to say a lot of nothing, in my view.
Zeihan is also an enthusiastic supporter of Mexifornia. He thinks fusing the US ans Mexico into one is great. Well, it isn't. It will be a disaster. I don't think most of his analysis is worth anything. He's ridiculous.

Merry Christmas

Happy New Year to all as well

It looks like 2023 is going to be crazy.
Don't worry about what others say, Cool Breeze. Everybody is racist today. Own it.
I've said many times before, either we're all racists, or no one is. The whole thing is a point of view canard.

Monday, January 2nd, 2023.

In what is potentially a new escalation in the Ukraine War, a missile strike by the Ukrainian military has killed dozens or hundreds of Russian soldiers in a dormitory in eastern ukraine. in a surprising admission by the Russians, Russia claims that 63 soldiers were killed. however, hey Ukraine military -linked news source claims that over 400 " pig dogs ", referring to the Russian soldiers, were killed.

in addition, the Ukrainians are climbing that over 1400 Russian soldiers were killed over the weekend.

of course, neither of the numbers 63 or 400 has been independently validated. it's unusual for the Russians to specify any number of casualties, beyond saying something like. "several." saying 63 casualties is already an overwhelmingly large admission by Russia's foreign ministry, so we can only guess that they wanted to try and pick a number large enough to be at least somewhat credible, but small enough so that the Ukrainians estimate of over 400 casualties wouldn't be believed by the Russian public.

The other observation of note is that there were apparently over 500 Russian conscripts in that one. dormitory in Eastern Ukraine. it's because so many Russian soldiers were concentrated together in one place that permitted Ukrainian missiles to kill so many Russians at once. it's possible that the Russians thought the dormitory was far enough to east that it was out of range of Ukrainian missiles, but NATO has recently supplied Ukraine with longer range missiles. at any rate, this is one more example of the incompetence of the Russian army, which is causing some unrest among the Russian population. at any rate, this is one more example of the incompetence of the Russian army, which is causing some unrest among the Russian population.

The question now is, what will Russia do to retaliate.. Russia has already been
showering Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure with huge barages of missiles, so it's not clear what more they can do and retaliation. The obvious possibility is a nuclear strike, although most analysts believe that Putin does not want to do something like that.

The US was worth saving in the 90s; there was a collective culture that evolved as the country progressed, but which was unmistakably a continuation of the values of the previous generations.

Now societal norms are set by tiny minorities of untouchable special interest activists who openly express that this country was created by nothing but sin.
