In a war, each country always acts in a way that's appropriate to its
generational era. So if foreign troops invade Iraq, then the Iraqis
will fight the war in a manner appropriate to an Awakening era.

Two of the most fascinating wars that I've written about are the 2006
war between Israel and Hezbollah and Napoleon's 1812 invasion of
Russia. What makes both of these examples fascinating was that the
aggressor was in a generational Crisis era, and the aggressee was in a
generational Awakening era.

In both cases, the fighting styles of the two belligerents were as
different as night and day. Furthermore, the one in the crisis era
blundered around and made one mistake after another, while the one in
the Awakening era played it cool and let the other side make mistakes.

As always, the part on Generational dynamics is the most interesting part. I think you're basically right about Iraq both in the article and in the post above. But I have a question: as we know Saudi Arabia and others Arab countries due for a generational crisis now or in the coming years "export" their revolutionary youth into Iraq and Syria, should we describe the current events as a merging of several generational timelines ? If so, a sectarian civil war in Iraq is still possible.

Thanks for the correction.

From the point of view of Generational Dynamics, I don't look on wars
as good wars or bad wars or errors. I look on wars the same as
hurricanes and earthquakes -- inevitable natural disasters. In other
words, the Iraq ground invasion had to happen because the public was
demanding it. If Bush had held off (somehow), then he would have lost
in 2004, and the next president would have invaded.

Yup, everyone knew Saddam had WMDs, that's why the U.N. Security inspectors who were already in Iraq told us exactly where they were, what they were, and why the first goal of the war was to secure those facilities.
