"But Brexit and the election of Donald Trump were also thought to be "impossible" until they happened, and now European leaders' nerves are rattled as they consider the possibility of a third major electoral shock in 2016."

"A Visit to Trump’s America"
from a photographer and coordinator of The Texas Farm and Ranch Photography Project
"In this gentleman’s world view, it was not black versus white, rich versus poor, feminism versus patriarchy, illegal versus citizen; rather, it was those who produce nothing believing themselves entitled, without appreciation, to the goods produced by others versus those who actually produce."

This illustrates also another good reason for the electoral college. Otherwise politicians would just campaign in the big cities and ignore the rest of the country to get a majority of the votes. There is a very big difference between city folks and country folks. Just look at the snowflakes on college campuses and their emotional breakdown. Then compare that to the competition at state fairs where 10-12 year old boys and girls alone prod their raised 300 pound hogs into judging arenas where only one gets a blue ribbon.
