You neglected (purposely or ignorantly) to mention Israel's arrogance.

A certainty: this time a plan is in place.
Israel's goal is survival. If Israeli tanks and missile/rocket launchers formed a circle and fired, all munitions would reach enemies. The only "sides" are Israel and the arabs who have vowed to erase Israel from the earth's face. Being sunni or shiite matters only to arabs. To Israel the foes have one allegiance.
It's just a matter of Iran's arrogance and time.

This situation is complicated by the fact that Israel has not taken a clear side. Israel has carried out numerous strikes against the forces of Iran, Hezbollah, and the Assad government. But Israel has also supported the Druze forces, who are generally allied with the aforementioned forces against the Sunni rebels.
