Not to apologise for Cuban socialism, but they have done a good job in the medical/biotech area. There is equality in providing medical care ( mediocre, but wide-spread, doctors are paid poorly by our standards). And they do have a biotech "industry" mostly focussed on vaccines, which they actually market to other Latin American countries. It's probably one of the few bright spots in their export economy (except rum and cigars).

Germany was hit hard by the Great Depression like everyone else,
and that was one reason that Hitler rose to power.

I've never really looked at Germany's economy, and if you've read a
lot about it then you probably know more than I do. You may find the

What's your take on the Nazi economy? I have read a lot on the topic, but there is no agreement. Was the Nazi economy just a credit bubble made up of loans that could never been paid back, or was the Nazi policy of trading finished German goods for raw materials using a fiat currency largely successful? Are fascist economies better than communist ones?
