Re: Today's Blog - High Oil prices caused by China's growth

One of the posters makes the mistake of assuming you can buy a futures contract and get delivery at any time, but this is not true. There is only a window every month where delivery is done and some contracts aren't monthly. In November of 2007 I owned some Comex gold and silver receipts. I got a b...

Re: Today's Blog - High Oil prices caused by China's growth

I think we all need to be on the same page as to what speculation means... some of us have different definitions about what speculation is.Tobyguy I think I see your point. There was speculation that lifted all boats so to speak. As an example of that, if people buy the biggest houses they can affo...

Re: Financial topics

I usually check the blogs at the end of the day. It's kind of strange that Mish posted almost the same thoughts this morning on his blog about 2 hours after I posted here, plus some interesting statistics. I don't have a network of contacts or any special information, so these conclusions are being ...

Re: Today's Blog - High Oil prices caused by China's growth

As far as whether oil and commodities were in a bubble, I don't know if people are aware, but many pension funds were putting a few percent of their money into commodity index funds. Pension funds! Many hedge funds and individual investors were doing the same thing. I've watched this debate go on an...

Re: Today's Blog - High Oil prices caused by China's growth

I haven't studied the details of who all is storing oil and everything that is being said about it, but I can comment on what is probably going on based on general knowledge. As everyone would surmise, there are cost associated with storing commodities. Those costs are normally reflected to some ext...

Re: Financial topics

It's my guess that the world financial situation has now gone critical and that a generational crash is coming very soon, possibly even today or Monday. The stock index futures are down heavily this morning with the S&Ps down 22 points and sitting right on critical support, the dollar is up over 1%,...

Re: Financial topics

Furthermore, I think there are MANY reasons to believe that GD2 will NOT be anywhere near as devastating as GD1. If you'd like to rehash those arguments I'm game... I don't want you to rehash broad statements. So, for example, one of the things you said at the beginning of this topic (meaning this ...

Re: Financial topics

What I find really ironic is that the more John logically lays out the future of economic collapse, genocidal wars, pandemics, starvation, and homelessness, and the more that actual events show this future to be taking shape, the more strongly people resist. They would rather believe that Helicopte...

Re: Financial topics

As far as how many have surmised that the banks are insolvent and believe it as of this moment, I would guess it's less than 1 in 10,000. How could that be with so many bankruptcies already having happened, and the government pumping hundreds of billions of dollars into the financial sector includi...

Re: Financial topics

As far as what is driving the stock market, I posted the other day that: "Today the debt is mostly in real estate and the plunges in the credit markets (like the ABX indices) led the stock market lower." That would still be true now, except we can add a whole bunch of other stuff that's starting to ...
