Re: Financial topics
It may take more than an economic collapse to cause a regeneracy. We did not have a regeneracy during the Great Depression. It was finally managed after the attack on Pearl Harbor. A very sudden total economic collapse might cause a regeneracy, but it seems unlikely that this will be the case. The m...

As usual, politicians find out about an old problem and try to make it sound new. Weeks ago I pointed out that much data from ground stations wa...

Re: 7-Feb-10 News - Iran threatens violence against Greens
There will almost certainly be violence. I doubt the scenario leading to attacks on them though, if they don't actually demonstrate a weapon. A number of the countries in that region are in that "six months to build a bomb" spot, and that may be where Iran intends to pause development. Or it may not...

Re: Financial topics
At this point, I don't think a bigger budget for any domestic items will go through - though quite a lot of stimulus money is still on the table and hasn't been spent yet (note: a lot of this "spending" is tax breaks for things like buying and installing solar panels). Now, a big increase in militar...

Re: Climate Change
Since this discussion seems to have turned to astronomy before it died, I'll just throw in a logic puzzle that I've always found amusing.
Q. How many meteors fall to Earth in a given day?
A. None. Meteors (meteorites) fall to the Sun. Earth merely gets in the way.
Think about it.

I don't think treasuries contribute to inflation in the usual sense, because they don't circulate freely. To effect actual inflation, money has to circulate. I agree as long as credit is included in the definition of money. There is an interesting graph at http://www.nowandfutures.com/key_stats.htm...

I don't know why anyone would believe the Egyptians didn't use some form of powered cutting and drilling instruments, they had the necessary components and the kings coffins show clear evidence of powered equipment at work, probably propelled by treadmill. For that matter, foot powered treadle lathe...

And what the changes are. Between populism and corporate greed, the country is going to be in a bind. I never thought I'd look forward to a regeneration event, but anything that stops the insanity of a country tearing itself apart for money, like a gang of kids fighting over the coins they found und...
