Re: South Africa, Zimbabwe and southern Africa
Let's get back to the original issue: Cholera in southern Africa. Mugabe has destroyed Zimbabwe's economy- it used to be one of the most prosperous countries in the region, and now it is experiencing a hyperinflationary depression. This is all well documented. Cholera is well understood, and it can ...

How to nurture the next (Silent?) generation
For those of us that are gen-Xers (like me), the next generation is our beloved children, and right in line to become the next Silent generation that is damaged by an economic collapse. For the Boomers, these are your grandchildren, no less precious. We all have strong incentives to protect and nurt...

Re: Welcome to the Generational Dynamics Forum!
Hi everyone, I see lots of posts by people that never introduced themselves- not that there is anything wrong with that- but I would really like to know a little more about some of you. Maybe you are an old-timer from another forum, or whatever, but there are a lot of newbies here (like me!) that wo...

Re: What can families do now to protect themselves?
In times of plenty, it is much more feasible to eat a vegetarian diet, knowing that your protein needs will be taken care of by whichever animal products you choose to eat and the copious available vegetables. In times of starvtion, people tend to eat more vegetables because that is all they have av...

Re: What can families do now to protect themselves?
Hi everyone, Since I first posed this question, situations have deteriorated both globally and personally (husband is now out of work and we don't know when/if they are going to bring him back). At least this is all more-or-less what I was expecting. I'm still trying to get a little extra food each ...

Re: Who's to blame -- Generation-Xers or Boomers?
I wasn't thinking about discrimination when I wrote my comments, although I see in re-reading then how you could get the impression that I was. What I'm really talking about is labels - specifically, the label that gen-Xers are nilhistic, self-destructive slackers. Certainly there are people in my g...

Re: Who's to blame -- Generation-Xers or Boomers?
I'm 37 and definitley a gen-Xer, but I rejected the labels attached to my generation when I first heard them (sometime in the early 90's), and here I find the same labels being attached- hasn't anyone considered that my generation has now gone to college, perhaps beyond, worked to support ourselves,...

Re: Where is all of the Fed Loan money coming from?
When the 700 billion dollar bailout was first proposed, my immediate reaction was "where is this money going to come from?", at which point my husband turned to our two-year-old son and said "Son, your grandchildren are going to be paying for this".

Re: Geopolitical topics
Regarding what's going on in the Congo and how it fits into the generational paradigm...in a society where children are taken from their families and put onto the front lines a a very young age, maybe the generation timeline is compressed (children growing up too fast) or extended (children not havi...

Re: Inflation, deflation, gold and currencies
OK, I'm going to ask a really dumb question. I understand the concept of inflation occurring because the government prints more money...but in our US economy, don't most transactions occur electronically? It's hard to imagine a situation where the pay truck would pull up and toss bundles of paper mo...
