Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
My expectation is that as the new dark age tightens its grip, Trump will be spending more and more of his time fighting the crisis or distraction du jour, whether it be the next financial crisis, pandemic, wildfire, measles outbreak, etc., etc., and any grand plans will fall by the wayside and be ...

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
That crypto sector makes as much sense as the two cult halfwits demsheviks that are being funding with private planes for the cheerful and useful idiots.
I look at crypto as a subset of intangibles. When real things were easy to mine and easy to produce, people focused on that. There was ...

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
My take on the stock market tends to be too bearish.
I think there will be several more days, somewhere between 5 and 10, of large losses before there is anything more than a one day relief rally. The S&P could be cut more than half from the all time high during that time, maybe to 2800 ...

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
It doesn't feel like there's been a panic washout yet.
It is only 2 days really. I expect most people don't even know yet. I think that most people have part of their pay automatically going into the S&P500 in their 401k or IRA account and does not really think about it much at all, nor ...

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
I am thinking maybe not too much happens tomorrow but over the weekend average joe investor looks things over and decides he should reduce his risk a bit, and next week could be serious. What do others think?

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
The Tariff of 1828, dubbed the "Tariff of Abominations," jacked up duties to protect Northern industries, averaging over 45% on imports. It hammered the South, which relied on exporting cotton and importing goods, sparking the Nullification Crisis. It fueled Southern resentment of the North and led ...

They have this under control, I don't know what you all are worried about. Stop shorting and make some money buying dips here.
I live in Anguilla. Most of the cargo we get comes through Miami even though much of it is really coming from China.
Trump put a tax on ships not made in the USA that ...

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
Sure seems like if it has significant loss every week for enough weeks we should get a flash crash.Higgenbotham wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 10:45 am If the market doesn't start to rally over the next 3 hours, I think it will be vulnerable to a flash crash.
Seems like about enough weeks anytime now.

Re: Higgenbotham's Dark Age Hovel
The first question that pops into my head when reading the above is, "Does Elon Musk believe in climate change?" Next would be whether he believes it's solvable. Apparently, he does.
