Re: Financial topics
Matt -- is that because you feel we'll have a sustained rally in the interim, due to euphoria / mass optimism because of Obama election? Or, do you think it's because this downturn / depression will be worse than you were originally thinking? The fundamentals of the economy are much weaker than in ...

Re: Presidential Election

That GenXers need to move from selfish (or at least primarily self-interested) motives to motives that include some notion of a larger universe having value. Not going to happen. The best we can do is to integrate that self-interest with...

Re: Russia
I found it very frustrating to try to discuss something with Justin because he has some sort of mental block about Putin. Justin is an anarchist. I only vaguely remember the thread, but I would be surprised to see him blindly defending an authoritarian like Putin. That would be a huge mental block ...

Re: Presidential Election
Man, I don't know what you are smoking, but if "The One" wins tomorrow you are in for a very rude awakening. If you think Obama is going to drop taxes then I think you also should expect to see the Pope getting drunk at a local bar. Obama is a Marxists. Marxists DON'T lower taxes - in fact he think...

Re: Humanitarian disaster in Democratic Republic of Congo
DRC's last crisis war appears to have occurred in the early 1960s, but that took place around Kinshasa in western DRC. Rwanda's crisis war took place in 1994. (Rwanda is shown as "RW" on the map above.) John, there is no way that the Congo Wars in the 1990s-2000s were not a Crisis War for the major...
