Re: Financial topics

But, I agree with John and others here--the long term is down--and, the second leg down, to come, should be spectacular. I know a few people who are watching the market right now and waiting for it to "peak," so they can dump everything. If they are at all representive of the general public, then y...

Re: Financial topics

My cousin wanted to buy $5000 worth of Citigroup stock last week. I told him he was nuts. Now he's pissed cuz he thinks he missed out on a making a big profit. Probably lots more people out there who will have similar schemes in mind, and forget all about what happens when the banks go under. Greed ...

Re: Financial topics

Politicians don't try and cause depressions. Not a good way to keep your job.

I think that they really do want to fix what's wrong, but they're just f-ing clueless.

Re: President Barack's news conference 2/9/2009

I'll be the first to admit that I have absolutely no idea why stocks go up or down on any given day. I'm just more glad than ever that I no longer own any, and I'm realllly hesitant at this point to buy a condo, which I was planning to do this year.

Re: President Barack's news conference 2/9/2009

Whatever he said last night seems to have triggered another nose-dive in the stock market. I don't think the guy has the slightest clue what he's doing.

Re: Who's to blame -- Generation-Xers or Boomers?

You say that you and other Gen-Xers have mutual respect for one another, and get along just fine. I assume you're talking about carefully chosen friends, people you've learned to know and trust, not random people off the street. No, I'm talking about everyone. I have respect for many Gen-Xers as we...

Re: Who's to blame -- Generation-Xers or Boomers?

Your problem is that YOU need Gen-Xers. That is, Gen-Xers need Gen-Xers, and a lot of Gen-Xers are pretty nasty people. Long after I'm dead and gone, and you won't have Boomers to kick around any more, you'll still have Gen-Xers screwing you. Sincerely, John I don't see needing other Gen Xers as a ...

Re: Financial topics

A simple question for all forum members: "where is all this money coming from?" I have no idea, but I sure hope that Citi holds it together long enough for me to cash in my CD next April. Otherwise, it's back to work! 8-) I was almost guessing that maybe the Fed thinks it won't actually have to she...

Boasted? Hardly. I merely stated a fact. Xers are the "no fear" generation, which is a valuable quality in times of crisis.

Re: What can families do now to protect themselves?

In times of plenty, it is much more feasible to eat a vegetarian diet, knowing that your protein needs will be taken care of by whichever animal products you choose to eat and the copious available vegetables. In times of starvtion, people tend to eat more vegetables because that is all they have a...
