Re: 7-Dec-11 WV-Afghan shocked by coordinated suicide bombs
I've been reading on intelligence websites that the European problems are beginning to open up some of the old fault lines that they still have, particularly the one between France and Germany.

Conflict Risk Index
I've been watching the Conflict Risk Index and there is one thing I would add to it, something that I could see leading to a larger war: the Cyprus issue. Right now, I would put it at low risk, but that could change. They've hated each other since the days of Troy and I guarantee that Greece and Tur...

Re: A question
I admit, I was referring to the foundation of our country, although I think I should probably have specified that in the question. What timeline was the South on? I am reasonably knowledgeable about history, although not nearly to the extent you are, but what was their crisis war? (or crisis, since ...

Re: Sino-American war
Hence our need to boost our ballistic missile defenses. We probably can't shoot down every one of them, but the more we manage, the better off our country will be.

A question
I'm curious: why didn't different parts of the United States form on different timelines, at least for a while until they merged. We're certainly large enough for that to be the case and it occurred with China until all of the timelines linked together. We're about the same size as they are, so why ...

Re: Sino-American war
Japan did the same thing in the 1930s. Numerous generals were warning that war with Japan was a possibility and urged the country to prepare. Course, our politician's heads were and are in a very snug place. We paid dearly for it too, but that doesn't mean we can't do it again.

Re: Sino-American war
Based on what I have read about those defenses, it seems like some of the tests have been successful, but some haven't, so we've got a ways to go. Course, if and when a war breaks out, we'll say: "We can't tinker with it any longer. We have to put it on the front lines and hope for the best." My est...

Sino-American war
What I keep wondering about is this: can we defeat China if it comes down to it? Today, I believe that we can, although we'd pay a high price for it. A few years down the line, though, I have my doubts, especially if we continue what we're doing. Sooner or later, I see this becoming nuclear. It may ...

I was wondering when you would mention that study. I hope we're prepared, but since we're in the process of dismantling our military, we may not be.

Re: Generation-X culture vs Boomer culture
No matter how many times i read about this, either on this website or other sources, it never ceases to amaze me. You're always going to have fraud in every time period; that's just human nature. Now, though... there are literally thousands of people who should be serving 20-year prison sentences fo...
