I think one characteristic of this dark age is that nobody knows what's really going on. We're in this massive ocean of information without a drop of good, verifiable information.

This apples to the children's health crisis more than anything I know of. I was wondering where else someone can look to get good information about long term prevalence of children's health conditions. Has anyone published a book? I can't find one. Then it occurred to me that RFK Jr is interested in this. I looked on his 2024 website to see if there is anything. Although there is no long term data of the type I am looking for, his policy summary "End the Chronic Disease Epidemic" hits on much of the content of some recent posts in this Dark Age Hovel.

This is quite a lucid and sensible platform. As I've said regarding other issues, that's why nothing will be done about it. Instead, the discussion will be about things like what Boomers need to do to beef up their retirement savings and other less important topics. It's a new dark age.

Even a cursory examination of men and women now vs those from Gen X and older tells you that our sexual differences are being altered. I know it makes me sound like a crackpot but I don't care. A 19 year old woman should be at the peak of beauty and femininity and yet, everyone I see is a dough-faced lumpenprole. Women in their late 30s are definitely more attractive. Same with the men. Personally I think its a byproduct of modern life, and the regime is capitalizing on it. I don't think they are clever enough to have done this on purpose.

Why people are ‘becoming less attractive’: facial analyst

Shafee Hassan, a founder of facial aesthetics consultancy firm QOVES, explained the phenomenon in response to a question about why old high-school yearbooks “contained [so] many attractive people… was it something in the water?”

Hassan explains in the caption on a clip posted to TikTok, “The average person’s face is becoming increasingly disadvantaged by modern diets, sleeping patterns, pollutants and orofacial habits creating a greater inequality in ‘the attractives’ vs ‘the unattractives’.”

He begins the video — which has garnered 3.2 million views and 333,100 likes — by asking if the viewer has ever wondered why teenagers in the 1950s look “so much older” than teenagers today, meaning that teenagers previously appeared more adult-like with more defining features.

“There are multiple theories about why this is the case, but the one that makes the most intuitive sense, at least to me, is presented in Contemporary Orthodontics by [US orthodontist William] Proffit and colleagues using what’s known as the functional matrix hypothesis,” he said.

He explained, in simple terms, that the functional matrix hypothesis means that “development of the face is dependent on the forces you put on it, for the upper and lower jaw,” which is what tends to define an “attractive or handsome” face.

Hassan continues by saying that the tongue or “other forces” can push the jaw downwards or outwards and a new bone will fill the space it’s created by movement.

Showing photo examples of a little girl with an underdeveloped jaw, the facial analyst claimed that a long-term sinus infection impacted the growth of the lower jaw since she was breathing through her mouth and didn’t keep it closed enough to “develop properly.”

Hassan asks if the viewer has ever wondered why teenagers in the 1950s look “so much older” than teenagers today, meaning that teenagers previously appeared more adult-like with more defining features.

“With 70% of the Western world having some kind of malocclusion [misaligned upper and lower teeth] or recession, much like this, it’s a very good explanation for why faces are becoming less and less attractive as time goes on,” Hassan concluded.

His hypothesis suggests that how we are using our mouths — and the foods we put in them — can impact the development of our jaws.

Some viewers on TikTok weren’t convinced, claiming that “fashion, photo quality, and factors like smoking cigarettes” is what made the generations of yore appear older than their age, according to one keyboard critic.

Another suggested “that we associate hairstyles with age,” and the perceived aging effect would disappear if we tried “to add modern hair on those faces.”

At least one fellow expert agreed with Hassan’s theory, writing, “I’m in dentistry and this is absolutely accurate.”

A healthy properly nourished mother will produce a child, if also fed a healthy diet, whose jaw space will accommodate all 28 well-developed teeth plus any wisdom teeth. This does not apply to the Western definition of properly nourished. It would apply to the Weston Price observations or something similar to that.

Microplastics found in every human testicle in study

Scientists say discovery may be linked to decades-long decline in sperm counts in men around the world

Microplastics have been found in human testicles, with researchers saying the discovery might be linked to declining sperm counts in men.

The scientists tested 23 human testes, as well as 47 testes from pet dogs. They found microplastic pollution in every sample.

The human testicles had been preserved and so their sperm count could not be measured. However, the sperm count in the dogs’ testes could be assessed and was lower in samples with higher contamination with PVC.

“At the beginning, I doubted whether microplastics could penetrate the reproductive system,” said Prof Xiaozhong Yu, at the University of New Mexico in the US. “When I first received the results for dogs I was surprised. I was even more surprised when I received the results for humans.”

testes. The chart reveals the presence of MNPs in all samples and demonstrates considerable individual
variability, ranging from a low of 161.22 µg/g (CN7) to the highest concentration of 695.94 µg/g (CN16).

The range of results is not as wide as in some other types of samples, which is a bit discouraging.
