Immediately I am reminded of barry's declaration that America's Constitution is "outdated".
The Khmer Rouge genocide was documented. Visions of Cambodia's people being driven from their homes into the countryside are easily recalled. Brutality is no exaggeration. China is successfully empire building, their high interest "loans" being the perfect bait. Apparently desperation interferes with learning from Sri Lanka's experience.
Perhaps Americans might learn something from Venezuela's romance with socialism.

Desperation (despair) is the "emotion" that is ascendant, and dominant, during times like these.

Panic and hopelessness are the key to all moves these days.

The way "out" of the turmoil is to fend off despair, but this applies only to individuals. Groups of people larger than the Saturday customers at the local doughnut shop can not fend off despair as a group.

As to Cambodia (China's Southern Spine):
Geopolitics of Southeast Asia, Part 1: Indochina

Aloha! :) <shaka!>

China's aggression is hardly a closet issue. Cambodia's dictator chooses his people's fate
selfishly and poorly. Look around, fish. Soon safe spaces will be gone. Complacency is foolish and dangerous. In emergencies, the "distanced" generally behave with cowardice.

Is it Serenity Prayer time?

..we all "work" within our particular, and peculiar, little zone of influence.

What is your "zone", by the way?
