Genocidal Awakening war
Syria is in an Awakening War whose magnitude reaches that of the genocidal Crisis Wars which scar generations for a lifetime. How will a war of this magnitude in a Second Turning affect the cycle?

If it's really bad, then after it ends there'll be a "first turning
reset." A relatively modern example is the Palestinians in 1948. The
war with the Jews was an Awakening era war for the Palestinians, but
when it ended there was a first turning reset, meaning that the
generational cycles started over with a Recovery Era.

Using an analysis method designed for nation states, on populations that are not nations, has limited, if any validity or value.
There never has been a Palestinian Nation State in the history of the world. No kingdom of Palestine. No Republic of Palestine. No ethnic group called Palestinians. No Palestinian language. No historic common religion. No historic nation state borders.
The Syrian state, is almost the same. No common ethnic group, no common religion, the borders were not created by conflict between a Syrian state and surrounding states.
Both the conflict in Syria and the one taking place on the land west of the Jordan river and East of the Mediterranean Sea have the Sunni Arab nation state as one of the combatants.
In Syria the other combatants are the ethnic groups and religious groups who do not want to be swallowed up in a Sunni Arab nation state. The largest of these non-Arab ethnic groups are the Assyrians and the Kurds. The largest of these non-Sunni religious groups are the Christians and the non-Sunni Muslims and the Drudes.
The borders of the current day "state of Syria" have existed only since the end of World War II, or even later. Syria was created not by "Syrians" but by European powers who were dividing the spoils created by the destruction of the Turkish Empire.
West of the Jordan the conflict is between the Sunni Arab state and the nation State of Israel.
The Sunni Arab state has a common ethnic group ( Arabs ) a common language ( Arabic ), a common religion ( Sunni Muslim ) and historic nation state borders ( which originally were within the Arabian peninsula, but expanded into an empire that included much of the Middle East ).
To pretend that the Sunni Arabs inside Syria have more in common with the other ethnic groups and other religious groups inside Syria, than the larger Sunni Arab nation state within the Middle East ignores what constitutes a nation state.
