Decline of the United States

History will almost certainly view singular events of last few days, weeks, and years as pivotal.
The former CIA and NSA contractor's disclosures will likely have a bigger impact than anything else.
The irony, or gallows humor of all this, is that he has likely achieved the exact opposite of what he claims he wanted to achieve.
It looks like he is going to make the recording of every single communication by American citizens, the recording of all medical records, and the recording of all employment, travel and financial records, of all American citizens ( and the storing of all that data on each citizen in the possession of Federal Government spy agencies ) acceptable to the majority of American citizens.
On the other hand, the United States has enjoyed the military benefit of an absolute intelligence advantage over every nation on earth by the United States since the middle of World War II.
Single handed this one traitor ( and he is a traitor, even if he is also a hero ) has destroyed that intelligence based military advantage, probably permanently.
So total, absolute, private data collection and storage by the federal government of every citizen's private, employment, health, and business information will become the permanent state, while at the same time collecting massive amounts of invaluable intelligence on potential enemy countries, and the military advantage that has given the United States, will grind suddenly to a halt.
Ironic.
