Yelp, Deval in the dollar must occur. What the government must do is try to make a profit on this deal. The deal is going to happen in some form or fashion. Trying to stop that is just futile. I would suggest this:

Dilute stock or share in every company asking for help.
US (tax payer) retains ownership of more than 50%.
Extend terms to stuggling homeowners 40 year fixed mortgage.
Extend foreclosure on homes to one year. This process acts to fast currently.
Require anyone with a loan to report loss of job within 30 days to oversight.
Prime the pump with road jobs and infrastructure. FDR.
Make 401Ks tax free withdrawls in the event of foreclosure-I said this a year ago. Better to let troubled homeowners help themselves.
Bottom line Banks and insurers would not need to be bailed out if homeowners are making their monthly payments.
Limit individuals to 5000 dollar line of credit on credit cards.
Outlaw payday advances-Criminals.
