In a world of fairly bad options, I don't understand the Putin criticism. He's easily the greatest leader in the world right now. China poses bigger threat to US than any other nation, FBI says

FBI Director Christopher Wray said Monday that no country poses more danger to the US than China, and warned threats from the ruling Communist Party have become “more brazen, more damaging” than ever.

In a stern rebuke days before the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Wray said the Chinese government constitutes a threat “to our economic security and to our freedoms: Our freedom of speech, of conscience, our freedom to elect and be served by our representatives without foreign meddling, our freedom to prosper when we toil and invent.”

In his remarks at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum in California, Wray added that malevolent actions by China’s Communist Party “are happening right here in America, literally every day.”

As for Putin, he is a nasty old fish. The alt right political spectrum looks to this guy as some kind of messianic savior, which is dumb. Everyone in the East sees him clearly for what he is: a thief and a liar. Now some alt right characters are abandoning him because he keeps engaging in "brother wars" against other white people. If he does invade the Ukraine, and millions of refugees flood into the West, the illusion will come to an end completely. World War II had China and Japan fighting in war. This one won't be the first or last war between both countries. It will be the first war to see large scale nuclear weapons used and probably some type of autonomous machines that as of right now aren't even known of.

Joe Biden has unilaterally deployed thousands of troops to Eastern Europe, without waiting for a Nato vote to send a force. The US President's gambit is a response to further build up of Russian troops close to the Ukrainian border.

Washington has been careful to spare European blushes over the fact that the US is negotiating with Russia over the Ukraine. There are Nato-Russia talks but the US has always dominated that Alliance, as Mr Biden’s latest move makes clear.

As someone who lives in the US, there are limits to what the Americans are prepared to do to protect Europe. The US has 30,000 troops in Europe, it had 300,000 at the end of the Cold War. It is more focused on Asia. France and Germany are increasingly seen as unreliable and untrustworthy. The Americans are not sure whose side they are on. Merkel was ask directly to pick a side. It is safer for Britain to stay close to the US. The EU can’t defend itself and security is important again.
