But, it was obvious that even among christians nobody loved. Christianity is often a lie.
I am sorry that you did not have good experiences, but to paint all Christians as haters and almost all of Christianity as a lie is just way too far of an over reaction.

Christians are supposed to help others. And love others. What you misjudge as "hate" is actually an unwillingness to be FORCED to hand over resources and property to give to someone else (see my previous 3 posts). Christianity is voluntary and the US has an amazing capacity for giving and service to others. But that is NOT what the current situation is about.

Very soon we are going to see an economic implosion due to the Government thinking it can just issue debt/currency and throw it at popular and "needy" programs (which, by the way, have made things WORSE. Again, see previous posts).
Yes, welcome back. A welcome change of pace.

Nitpick. The description was ‘often’, not ‘all’ or ‘almost all’. I was happy to see comments based on reason and fact, rather than insult and hate. Some will declare themselves belonging to a cult of love and charity and behave the opposite. Enough of that. The question was which faction was supporting charity and love, in this case sanctuary cities. I think it is rather obvious.

During the unraveling we had too much emphasis on the elites, sending jobs abroad, and minimizing support for all in the name of small government. Trump was in great part a response to the first black president, an attempt to bring prejudice and violence out in the open again. I see the current crisis answering these trends, bringing jobs back to America, getting the big corporations to pay their share of taxes, and providing popular services again. We headed too long in the wrong direction. It will take voting rights and ending the filibuster to go back to majority rule and correct it.

I may delve in deeper to your articles, but enough for now.

Bish doesn't use context in anything he says. He chooses what he wants to see in his reasoning, and that's because he doesn't accept reality for what it is. This is the essence of the liberal/leftist. They are ideologues, not practical people. They want a conclusion but reality won't accept their conclusions, so they destroy everything with their chaos so that all will be equally worse off, or broke. That's the evidence of history. Limited government is the indisputable champion, because of humans and their relationship with freedom and incentive. Conservatives want to conserve what is good and true (things like freedom and virtue, families and relationships foremost with God), but progressives want self autonomy and rebellion, because their father is the devil and he wants everyone destroyed, and he like his children hates God.

All things are "liars" or you can find plenty of examples of it. All people, or no people, are racists - all humans are the same regarding that tribal attribute. Some are just much better at certain things than others. Again, if europeans aren't around, civilization declines, as a rule. That's what is known historically, that is what is obvious now. You can give all the other groups all you want, even discriminate against the euros all you want, but the other groups still don't achieve what they do. It's just stupid to talk about even anymore. It's not a debate, it's a conspiracy theory and religious (egalitarian) thinking. Eurasians know this as well, which is why they also would rather live among europeans than any other group, and like other groups, have similar opinions on groups that are different.

The thing is, everyone wants the european traits or materialism of their more prosperous civlizations. This isn't "better" necessarily, but for the scientific materialist, it presents a huge problem. All races would rather live in european societies. Somehow pointing that out makes me the problem, pointing out the reality, that people of all races vote with the feet for. Amazing.

Justice and Mercy

Post by Bob Butler »

The Myers Briggs style distinction that conservatives favor justice while liberals favors mercy feels interesting and right. That certainly fits the sanctuary city issue. I may be unusual in feeling that both are legitimate functions of government.

Your three notes seem to be missing the Strauss and Howe crisis perspective. I have touched on how in each prior crisis, problems were solved and western values were developed favoring repeating the crisis solutions. The problems would include colonial imperialism, noble privilege, slavery, economic crash and autocratic conquest. The values that came to be held included independence, equality, freedom, government regulation of the economy and containment. Thus, I would expect certain problems to be addressed in this crisis too, and certain problems firmly solved. What might these problems be?

Criminals in high places: Nixon, Agnew, Trump. Justice. Equal treatment under law for all. If you run on locking Hillary up for mishandling e-mails, one should not steal a bunch of classified documents. I suspect future criminals in chief to run hard into scrutiny and justice.

Black Lives Matter. There was a practice of applying improperly the mechanisms of justice against minorities. Justice should be equal.

Minority rule. Between gerrymandering, the filibuster, refusing to schedule Supreme Court hearings and other tricks, the wheels of government are not in the hands of voters. Large campaign fund contributors get more control than the voters. But suddenly, the people want certain popular bills passed and find they can only get it by bypassing the tricks. The tricks are apt to get trampled. A few more votes in the senate and the filibuster is gone, voting rights bills get passed, and...

From my S&H perspective I see in the crisis that the major problems are solved. The conservative faction that wishes the established habitual problems to get continued gets rolled over by a progressive population that thinks the problems have existed long enough. Flattened. Crushed. Sorry, but that is the pattern you come to expect.

And if all three of the above problems are focused on the problem of justice, I think you will find that progressives do care about justice. Yes, immigration is focused on mercy, but the others?

I also would have you remember that the life savings of lots of people got wiped out by the stock market crash. Social Security was necessary if a large part of the population were to have anything. You can claim it wound up as a Ponzi scheme. You can wish FDR could have come up with something else. What else? If the existing scheme is wrong, what else would have got it done?

I’m not thrilled at the echo of long ago problems still persisting, but how do you get rid of it? Perpetually complaining doesn’t seem to do it, and predicting a collapse that never seems to come won’t do it.

Progress

At least I don’t profess belief in one religious system then not adhere to its primary beliefs. Boast and not live up to it?

I have sampled many systems. Everything from Jesus to Jefferson. I do wander far afield. Still, I believe in what I say. That is better than you.

I can sort of agree that autocratic planned economies are slowly being replaced by democracy and capitalism. It is a better way on average to go, but as I said to Navigator there are more steps to take. You are hardly the first to notice the trend. It is not that insight which I have long shared that makes you so objectionable.

If someone does not adhere to the primary beliefs of a religion, then they are not adherents to the religion and your argument is moot.

All fall short of the Glory of God. All but you, I guess.

I wouldn't know. We had an argument on morals a while ago, and He failed to respond. The basic problem is that the dominant image of Him is autocratic. His whole proclaimed approach is obsolete.

To the guest who talked about Cubans, you are off on some things. First studies have shown that Cubans are the second most successful minority per capita in the U.S.. I came with my family on the mariel boat lift which is what you were talking about and yes there were real criminals as well as people who were mentally unstable but most of the people on those boats were like my family law abiding and either professional or trained in trades. My parents were both architects with masters degrees and years of experience. My uncle was a master carpenter and also had years of experience in commercial fishing as well as the knowledge that it brings. My older brother was studying electrical engineering and became an electrical engineer when we came to this country. Was there a spike in crime in Miami during the 80's? Yes there was but that was true for all of America at that time. Today Miami is one of the safest cities in North America and the areas with high Cuban populations are very safe, even the low income Cuban areas. By the way Cubans do get deported, the people who control immigration in this country don't tend to like us very much as we tend to be very conservative and not be on board with their communist agenda. Notice I said communist not leftist or progressive or liberal as they are actually communist. I also think you and most people don't see the importance of culture. Culture is super important , which is why the communist attack and try to destroy it. Western culture and Christianity have shown throughout history that they are better than anything the communist have come up with or anyone else for that matter and so they must destroy them. I have met Mexican ,Colombian, Venezuelan and Nicaraguan immigrants as well as non latin immigrants from other parts of the world that were actually very conservative. The thing they all had in common was that they settled in very conservative traditional areas of the U.S. and so they adopted the traditional American culture. Having said all of this I want all illegals in the U.S and western Europe to be deported and all immigration stopped for the next 20 years this way immigrants that are here legally can assimilate and at some point we can have a better society.

I have also read that U.S. warships are now being fitted with laser weapons as well as Hypersonic missiles and Japan, India , South Korea and Australia are all going on weapons buying and building bonanzas. I have also read that the Philippines are saying that in the case of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan they would allow the U.S. to use their country as a base to help Taiwan fight back against China. With all these things happening so fast I think the main war will break out no later than early to mid 2023.
On another note Queen Elizabeth has died, may she rest in peace. It is quit unfortunate that people like her that have so much experience and knowledge leave us when we need them most but this is as John would say part of generational dynamics.
