BB, I fantasize about impeaching every judge who allows a mother to kill her baby in the first nine months of his or her life.
I would sympathize if you were dealing with babies rather than a group of cells which could not survive outside the womb. Otherwise that is a sick daydream.
So anyone who cannot survive without dialysis, an iron lung or other external aid should be killed?
I assume that they can survive outside the womb to reach that point, so no.

Actually, on second thought, an akin situation came up. When I had my brain tumor a while back, they asked in advance what should be done if something went wrong with the operation and I wound up brain dead. This was apparently not entirely hypothetical. Should they attempt drastic measures to keep my body with a semblance of life, or should they pull the plug if they could foresee no happy resolution? Also they asked me to identify a health proxy, someone who could interpret my wishes and make a decision. I nominated my younger sister, a former nurse.

Should myself, my sister and my doctors make such a decision, or should the government impose a one size fits all edict? I would say our present system is correct. Choice. Are you so sure of your own opinion that you would try to impose it? The question is often religious and cultural. It will vary highly. The concept of freedom should mean something.

This coming from someone who believes that vaccines are part of a global conspiracy and that the Russians are the good guys.
If you don't know that the so-called covid vaccines are bad for people and don't work, you don't pay any attention to data, or facts.

I don't say the Russians are good guys, but I do say the Russians are acting in self defense after years of belligerence from other governments who are much worse.

BB, you are trying to impose your beliefs on the baby.

Many believe the collection of cells are incapable of having a belief.

If Texas would rather bus than solve the problem and the federal administration is responsible for the problem, you have to move the resources with the busses. Where else will the resources come from than the source of the problem?
This is a perfect example of why people on this board get tired of trying to reason with you - because you don't respond logically. Maybe it's on purpose, or maybe you just don't know how. I just told you that it's not Texas' responsibility to solve the problem. Your respondent phrase "If Texas would rather bus than solve the problem" implies that you still think it's up to Texas to solve a problem not of their making that belongs to the entire nation, but you make no argument as to why. You talk about the federal government moving resources from Texas to sanctuary cities, but Texas has been given no resources, so there are none for the government to move. In essence, your replies are just gibberish, word salad, utter nonsense.

If you reply to what I have just written, you will not actually address any points I made, but instead will dance around the issue like Karin Jean-Pierre at a press conference.

Thank you, Spotty. It's clear beyond a doubt this troll wishes ill will to the readers by clogging it up with nonsense and exaggerated claims of insults. And some of us have seen the very many insults he's hurled at the collective readership of this blog, while claiming to be the victim.

BB killing a person because they are small is as bad as killing people because they have Jewish ancestry.

I have been a faithful reader for about 20 years, and although I once commented (on a ID I forgot); I would like to record my displeasure with Bob Butler’s dominating the discussions over the past few days. A little self restraint on his part would be appreciated as I miss the wiser discourse that takes place when the forum is not interacting with him.

Thank you. Yes, let's all move on. The man is deluded as I said long ago, totally clueless - and as Spotty said he can't even understand what logic is and what words mean. Let's talk about other things.

But is a single fertilized cell a person? There is a general consensus that one should not kill a sentient being, and a potential human sentient being candidate should not be close as this is a sensitive topic. But most cultures kill for meat and consider this OK, so that sets one minimum objective measure. Some will claim a single fertilized cell cannot respond as intelligently as, say, a spotty brown cow. Thus, it is not sentient.

Now abortion is a tricky moral problem. If some do not wish to kill a sentient being, others do not wish to kill something that can potentially someday become a sentient being. I am of the former. You are of the latter. I don't suspect either of us will convince the other of their standard. I for one would respect whichever choice the woman makes, but I do not see the government imposing a viewpoint on all. Their function does not include imposing moral or religious edicts.

Not sure how much more is to be said. Either of us repeating our point of view with more clarity hasn't worked.
