Luzon is a known contrarian, taking a long term stand opposed to the consensus position. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Lindzen That said, he has held any number of reputable posts. However, if you want to access some of the raw data and its summations by the main line crowd, try https://sealevel.nasa.gov. Warning! More stuff than you likely want.

They'll admit the jab was bad to engender more chaos. Then they'll move to things like "climate lockdowns." Why? You don't need individual mass compliance. And you can apply climate to everything. They already do, because they are evil and liars.

Evil liars?
And the Republicans aren’t? They would rather get money from the NRA and gun lobby than reduce the killing? They would rather get money from big oil than save the planet? They would rather enforce religious doctrine than allow women reproductive freedom? They would rather see their people die than encourage defending against covid? They would rather risk democracy and the constitution than lose the MAGA votes? Combined, they would rather stick with existing unraveling policies than contest the 2024 will of the voters?Cool Breeze wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 10:41 amThey'll admit the jab was bad to engender more chaos. Your funeral. The Republicans see upcoming collapse. The Democrats, a new birth of freedom. Can both be true?
And no, there are reasons to give the people what they badly want other than to cause chaos.

I have spent a lot of time over the last few years trying to ascertain what makes otherwise intelligent people become liberal "wackos." I see this in some friends that I really like, and it truly upsets me. I don't know how they get there, but I know when they are there, because it becomes impossible to have a logical, coherent conversation with them about social or political issues, as they stop employing logical arguments and instead devolve into fits of emotion when they disagree with a premise. Mind you, some of these people have high IQ's, and yet they appear to have lost contact with reality. It really sucks watching this occur in people I care about.
I recently read some comments on an article in "American Thinker" which got my attention. The whole article is here https://www.americanthinker.com/article ... rence.html, but I have copied and pasted the most salient comments below.

The Libs all demonstrate schizophrenia. It distorts the way they express emotion, perceive reality, and relate to others. They have difficulty distinguishing what is real and imaginary.
Schizophrenia is most often affects young people. They are prone to delusions. Many have attention deficit disorder. It is believed that there is a genetic disposition for schizophrenia, along with exposure to environmental toxins, and drug usage. Many or most of the children experiencing true gender dysphoria are on the autism spectrum. They are given drugs like Adderall (amphetamines) to "treat" it.
The point is, there may be a physical component to the irrationality on the Left. It is an anecdotal observation, but there is a common look in the eyes of radical Libs--they look crazy, either wide-eyed blank stares or eyes bulging with hatred. Think of the looks on the faces of young Libs (and some older ones too) after Trump won in 2016, screaming at the sky, then demanding safe places because they could not accept reality.

People formerly identified as liberals are at war with reality. They possess the parasite's fear of the host, and of being deprived of the host. Hence they fear the host and transform it into dangerous monsters. People who can produce things as opposed to those in teaching, public work, government, etc., are looked upon with fear. They are also frozen by terror into a permanent adolescence where the obligations and "laws" of moral conduct threaten to hold them accountable for their actions. What they ask the vicious government to do, is to defeat the "parent" of reality so they can go back to cartoons and masturbation, specific and general. Soothing rituals that keep reality, mortality, at bay.
The Russians!!! Apparently represent the forceful intrusion of reality. Like Trump and his supporters, who must be defeated through wiles and conjurings, sanctions, etc. As it becomes more clear that this bizarre theater is in actuality the brutal sacrifice of the Ukrainians with no hope of success, their hysteria and denial grows. They all know Trump won, which is why they are so fervent at denying it.

Re: Societal collapse
Some of the important issues and difference include wanting control of one’s own reproductive health care, wanting to take precautions against covid, wanting defenses against oppression and prejudice, wanting to slow down gun violence, wanting to limit the all too common climate change events, and wanting to discourage those who would overthrow the government. I don’t see any of those urges as ‘wacko’.
I can see that in slower rural areas one can cling to older approaches to solving often different problems. Cultural change is slower or is perceived of as slower. That is hardly wacko either. It might be popular to perceive irrationally in those who have a different way of looking at the world, to assume the other side is crazy. To me, that is just intellectual laziness, willfully choosing to remain ignorant. If one doesn’t want to understand people who are different, one deliberately mischaracterizes them.

Because you are logical, you want to explain this phenomenon logically. The problem is, it's not the right approach. The proof of this is that you had (even european) people from the middle part of last century who were "Democrat" but they were reasonable. That's what is so funny about the JFK and RFK supporters (none of them are anymore!) of yesteryear: they are literally looney, but still call themselves "Democrats" as if they haven't changed or as if they understand anything about the USA!spottybrowncow wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 9:03 pmI have spent a lot of time over the last few years trying to ascertain what makes otherwise intelligent people become liberal "wackos." These people are spiritually diseased. They may have some ability to use their brains, but they are not as smart (IQ wise) as you think, and even if they were, what's it worth? They are unwise, so they can't even use any logical gifts appropriately, having been given up to base desires and hardness of heart. How else could a physician, for example, claim all of a sudden that natural immunity doesn't "work"? That ivermectin, which always worked and was a nobel prize winning drug, should be labeled as horse dewormer, and now accepted as a treatment? It's funny because it's so obvious that they are totally deceived and it's a joke. They deserve no respect and the sooner they go away, in my estimation, the better. I have no control over that, but I won't be surprised when the actual people with high IQs throw them under the bus. That's already happening with the jab, btw.
Hang in there. Unlike bish, I pray for my enemies. I even pray for him, because likely having received the jab, he's on a countdown anyway. Think of how sad that is. Tick tick, Bish.
Re: Societal collapse
Mostly a good post.
I have lost friends that i have had for decades because I wasn't anti-Trump. (Not that i support all of his postilions, especially on Ukraine.) The bizarre self-righteousness of these former friends is shocking. The friends I have on the right are gentle sgaes compared to my liberal former friends.
As they are white, I can only ask one question: What is their end game? The POCs they actively and aggressively support are literally raping, robbing, and killing them. It makes no sense to me. Now, today, this is a question of physical survival. Have any of these people ever heard of Rhodesia or South Africa? And even if they had, they have no understanding of what has happened in these once fabulously, but now completely ruined and bankrupt places.
I disagree about the vaccines.

Deliberate Misinterpretation
In JFK’s and LBJ’s time there were several issues. The Civil Rights movement was one, which I still approve of. Poverty was another, which again I still approve of. Vietnam was more complex. Were we containing communism or defending colonial imperialism? I tend to believe the second rather than the first, but the USA was divided on whether the fight was worth fighting.Cool Breeze wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 9:05 pmBecause you are logical, you want to explain this phenomenon logically. I just don’t believe many here will honestly present their rival’s position. They would rather proclaim their rivals insane than honestly attempting to understand them. Thus, they will argue against a stance their rivals never had. This is not being logical or approaching a difference logically, rather the opposite. It is a deliberate misunderstanding and lying about one’s opponent.

Here are some recent quotes from the above entity where we are presumably asked to "to understand them":
If you're in favor of killing babies for convenience, just say so. Don't obfuscate by calling it "reproductive health care." What are you trying to hide?wanting control of one’s own reproductive health care
No one has ever tried to stop anyone from taking all the precautions they want against covid. But your right to do that doesn't extend to forcing people who disagree with you to be subjected to your misguided notions, especially when it's become abundantly clear that the CDC has absolutely no idea what they're doing. The early vaccines did result in decreased severity of illness for many people, but subsequent "boosters" conferred very little immunity to their target organisms, and in fact resulted in "reverse immunity" to future strains. At this point, only an imbecile or a criminal could recommend continued forced vaccination, especially of children, and especially in light of demonstrated universal elevation of serum troponins post-vaccination. These aren't fringe theories, they're from very well-done studies, but mainstream medicine has tried to suppress them because many of its members have succumbed to the mental illness I originally alluded to.wanting to take precautions against covid
Also, I challenge you to show me one study demonstrating, with standard statistical techniques (yes, those pesky "p-values"), efficacy of forced mask-wearing and keeping children out of school in preventing covid-associated morbidity . You won't, because you can't, because there aren't any such studies. But there is overwhelming documentation of the damage these practices has produced.
First you have to prove that these things exist. Thomas Sowell doesn't think so, so I guess he's a racist. Or do you prefer to call him an "Uncle Tom?wanting defenses against oppression and prejudice
Since only a tiny fraction of a percent of gun owners commit crime with guns, lock that fraction up and throw away the key, VOILA, problem solved. Is there a problem with that approach? Yes, for one side, and we all know what that problem is.wanting to slow down gun violence
I could go on forever, but I won't, because I grow weary of playing chess with pigeons. As they say, "first they knock over the pieces, then they shit on the board, then they strut around acting like they won the game." Fits to a tee.
