Honestly, it's a crap article by someone with either an agenda to push or a desire to perform sexual acts on Putin. The "facts" are cherry picked and the "conclusions" push a specific viewpoint. There are much better things out there to read.
That, on one side or another, is true of almost all media. I post what I find. You can take it or leave it.

The First Battle of the Next War: Wargaming a Chinese Invasion of Taiwan
https://www.csis.org/analysis/first-bat ... ion-taiwan
"Further, the high losses damaged the U.S. global position for many years. China also lost heavily, and failure to occupy Taiwan might destabilize Chinese Communist Party rule. Victory is therefore not enough. The United States needs to strengthen deterrence immediately."
There won't be a winner. Even without a general nuclear exchange, we'll face destruction and loss of life far beyond the theater of battle. And the title tells a lot. Only the first battle of something we don't want to think about.

Conclusion as written:
"This isn’t going to end well, but most of you already knew that."
The article is cherry picking information and not painting a full picture. But there's accumulating evidence that Russia has started to get their game on. We should know by the summer regardless. In the Pacific, instead of starting to repair relations with China, tensions have ballooned to a higher level. Things are getting worse at an increasingly rapid rate. The last sentence of the article is correct. This isn't going to end well.

I saw on the news that Jimmy Carter has entered hospice care. I hope he has a peaceful transition to the next phase.
Interestingly, he owes Joe Biden possibly a greater debt than does anyone else. Before Biden, Carter was widely regarded as the worst president in U.S. history. Today, that superlative has passed to Joe Biden.

A crisis ends with the collapse of the conservative faction. This time around, we seem to be having three collapses, centered on Putin, XI and Trump. If these three collapses are well completed, who will the poor historians glorify for handling them? Poor historians. Biden really doesn’t compare with FDR, Lincoln or the various founding fathers, but a crisis without a vibrant leader?
I agree that we have a new worst, but I’d go with the only president who led an insurrection against his own government.

You have not provided evidence to support this statement:

You have agreed that, out of 950 individuals arrested, only 4 Oath keepers were convicted of an unorganized seditious conspiracy. There has been no evidence presented to date in support of an "insurrection".
The stats do not support an insurrection: 45% of those arrested were picketing, demonstrating and parading, etc., 5% pleaded guilty to assault, less than 1% were convicted of seditious conspiracy. No one was convicted of insurrection, 24% or 229 arrests are pending and apparently no charges have been filed, 26% or 240 charges have been filed for assault and awaiting trial or a plea arrangement.

Do we really have to go over this again? Miriam Webster defines insurrection as "an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government." Do you really think that Jan 6 didn't meet this definition?

It is not a matter of what I think it is what the evidence presents to date. No one has been charged or convicted of insurrection.
