** 29-Jul-2023 World View: Bangladesh and Ukraine
Today's horror story is taking place in
Bangladesh, where security forces are
using bats, batons and sticks to beat
people peacefully protesting in the
streets. Seeing the video clips is
gruesome.
The last generational crisis war was the
extremely horrific ethnic civil war
between two Muslim ethnic groups, the
Bengalis and the Biharis, that climaxed
52 years ago in 1971. The current
unrest is being reported as purely
poltical, not ethnic. However, the
violence is expected to fizzle, since
there have not yet been 58 years since
the last crisis war.

**** Ukraine
The Ukraine war has been pushed out of
the news recently in the US, thanks to
various domestic scandals. Nonetheless,
Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine
continues on relentelessly, as the worst
European genocide since the Nazi
Holocaust.
As I repored a few days ago, Russis is
determined to block all grain exports
from Ukraine, an action that will cause
global food inflation, and possible
famines in some countries in the Middle
East, Africa and Asia.
So now Russia's barrage of missiles have
been pouring down on Black Sea ports in
and around Odessa, and on Danube River
ports separating Ukraine from Romania.
I haven't heard any analysts suggest
this, but it occurs to me that something
bigger may be afoot. Russia is
launching missiles on Danube ports near
Romania, and the Wagner group is in
Belarus near Poland, training the
Belarus army for war. It would not
surprise me to learn that Putin is
preparing for an assault on Nato through
Poland and Romania. This, of course, is
insane and suicidal, and even worse than
the invasion of Ukraine, but that
wouldn't stop Putin.
