We're living through an interesting experiment: whether if you know a crisis war is coming, anything can be done to prepare for it. At least so far, I would say that the answer is no.

White House Eyeing Chinese Forces Gathered on Hong Kong Border

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... ong-border
The nature of the Chinese buildup wasn’t clear; the official said that units of the Chinese military or armed police had gathered at the border with Hong Kong. The official briefed reporters on condition he not be identified.

The mainland government said Tuesday that violence in Hong Kong was a “creation of the U.S.,” a charge the administration official denied.

“The Chinese most likely have a very long-term perspective on this, and they aren’t going to be one China and two systems anymore,” Sullivan said. “My sense is that they want to completely chew up Hong Kong and make it part of the central part of China, maybe to improve their trading and economic base.”
That doesn't make any sense. I agree with other posters, Hong Kong without semi-Rule of Law won't function. The bullies of Beijing are deluding themselves.

Of course you can prepare,.. for something. But since you don't really know what "crisis war" means, in that "visceral way" that you imagine you know what "car wreck" means, you can't be sure what it is that you'd be "preparing" yourself for, would'dja? (How the fnerk do you spell "would'dja"?)

One thing that I think you CAN prepare yourself for is to not be surprised and shocked,.. overly.

But while somehow "taking advantage" of what you know is possible, convincing other people to "prepare themselves" is probably not gonna work very well.

..which is what John is telling us, constantly, and why the whole "Casandra" thing and the "Greek Tragedy" thing are so prominent around here. :)

If you really want to know what is happening in Hong Kong, check for flight availability out of Hong Kong. Monitor that. Soon it will be a deluge. And then, the airport will be closed.

Another way of looking at it is that Generational Dynamics is like
weather forecasting. If a weather forecast predicts a huge hurricane,
then you can ignore it or you can kill the weather forecaster or you
can prepare for it, but you can't prevent the hurricane.

Boomers and globalists on this forum are insane radical interventionists if they think that China sending tanks and Armed Police to Hong Kong is something that is worth going to war over. Under international law this is a purely internal matter within China. There is no treaty in which the United States is signatory to here that is being violated in this matter or is potentially being violated.

Perhaps, but Britain does have a treaty.
