reason these days why someone would stop working at age 63, except
that older people in the workplace are rejected, hated and treated
with hostility and contempt, creating a very hostile work environment
for those who do have jobs.
Any person over 63 these days is basically a completely worthless
piece of garbage, as measured by the willingness of society to pay us
for anything we do. I know this from personal experience, and from
the experiences of others. It is therefore to the advantage of me and
to millions of other individuals, and also to society in general, if
we were dead as quickly as possible. I and millions of other people
are simply completely worthless pieces of garbage who are doing
nothing but drain society, and so both we and society would all be
better off if we were all killed, as quickly as possible.
The problem is that the same society that says that it's perfectly OK
for a doctor to shove an iron bar into the head of a baby as it's
emerging from the birth canal, even though that baby might grow up
make a major contribution to society, also says that it's illegal for
a doctor to support someone whom society treats as a worthless piece
of garbage, with no possibility of contributing anything to society,
who wants to be put out of his misery voluntarily.
So society would be a lot better off without me and millions of other
people, and so the solution is to make suicide kits available to
people over 60. Instead of having to screw around with plastic bags
and helium and sleeping pills, it would be a perfect solution that
would be a benefit to individuals, and to society as a whole.
By the way, don't interpret this posting as indicating that I'm on the
verge of imminent suicide. I'm not, but being a completely worthless
person means that could change in the future.
Now, another issue related to the dead canary graph has to do with the
deficit. Everyone is getting all exercised over the fact that the
recent budget agreement adds $2 trillion to the debt. What the hell
difference does it make if the debt is $20 trillion or $22 trillion?
Either way, we're still headed for the same massive worldwide
financial crisis and world war that will end up canceling most debts
anyway, so we might as well go for the $22 trillion. Eat drink and be
merry, for tomorrow we die. [Ecclesiastes 8:15, Isaiah 22:13]
We had that sequester going on for a few years, and it did reduce the
deficit, but so what? It was a great Pyrrhic victory, but it also
crippled our armed forces, and the greatest existential threat to the
nation is not the debt but China.
So I say, go for it. Increase the deficit. Increase the debt. Ten
years from now, after the war is over, with some 3-4 billion people
dead from nuclear weapons, conventional weapons, marauding gangs,
famine and disease, the amount of the deficit today will be just a
minor footnote in history.
