My father worked into his late 70s, but he was an exception. A lot
more people in their 70s are working today. Also, a lot more women
are working today.

The reason is the same in both cases: technology. Young men are
stronger and heavier than women or old men, and so there are a lot of
jobs that that only young men were qualified to do. However,
technology has erased many of the advantages that young men have.
Working on the factory floor or flying a warplane used to be hard
physical labor, but now a lot of that hard physical labor is mitigated
by robotics and other technology. Also, a lot of people today can
work at home telecommuting, which was almost unheard of in the 1960s.
(I did some telecommuting in the late 1960s, but that was an
exception.)

So when we say that more old people are working today, or more women
are working today, it's not for the reasons that politicians like to
point to so that they can pat themselves on the back, but it's because
of technology that has nothing to do with politicians.

This is interesting - it's a few years old but shows the percentage of baby boomers working by age and gender.

I'll post some observations in a few days. But there's some further action I plan to take Wednesday if possible before posting.

5% annual inflation will wipe out eighty percent of people in less than 20 years.
The last ones doubled the debt and the new ones will double inflation.
They are still confused on the actual value in days per ounce above inflation.

Long ago, the Fed said we'll target the rate of debasement at 2% as policy. Powell recently essentially affirmed that he will adhere to that. Trump essentially said we need more debasement than 2% so we can call it growth.

None of that has anything to do with my decision, though it could be interpreted as some kind of tipping point. However, the market itself appears to already be indicating a possible tipping point. You may have seen what the commercials are doing but there's more I'll get into later.

The commercials reduced their shorts substantially and are now net long. Out of curiosity, I just pulled some data out from the 1990s and through the entire bottoming process in the 1990s the commercials were NEVER net long, not even once. The least short they got (and very correctly so) was July/August 1997.

This is the first time the commercials have been net long silver in 30 years. That's big news, especially given their track record on silver. But it's much more than just the commercials that are showing something unusual is going on in silver. I'll get into that in a few days. I may try to track Vince down.

I didn't realize it, but barchart has the COT data available as interactive so I was able to go through it all and confirm the above.
