While the periphery breaks down rather slowly at first, the capital cities of the hegemon should collapse suddenly and violently.

Interesting --- It depends what Trumps says and does, and what others say and do.-- If he gets the people riled up enough there could be a cleaning out of the stables and create the needed change that goes with it. - It would be painful, but as painful as it may be, he could be the one to get the lions share of the people to support him and get the change accomplished. However, there are jokers in the deck ( outside of Trump) that could create events that put the second amendment into play. Interesting times.

Trump is a high profile real estate developer, and developers are at the mercy of politicians regardless of ones opinion of them. Sometimes it is best (cheaper) to give the impression of support -as in donations - then to do otherwise. My opinion is from personal experience --- don't forget the "rights" one has regarding a parcel of property is in essence determined by a government body- known as a "bundle of rights" which very depending on location . What you can or can't do is/can be determined buy a government body. You do not "own" land, think not ? stop paying real estate taxes and see what happens.Higgenbotham wrote:http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/04/16/ ... newssearchSen. Hillary Clinton (2008 Campaign)

Trump addresses some of this in this weekend's speeches. He says this is perhaps the greatest political movement in the history of the country. He says he is only the messenger. He says he is a pretty good messenger and asks his supporters if they agree that he is a pretty good messenger. He doesn't seem too concerned about the feasibility of implementing any of the agenda items he brings up, like putting a 35% tariff on Toyotas.gerald wrote:Higgenbotham

Trump has more in common with the Clintons than he does with his supporters. He has been very cozy with the Clintons and remains so. He plays and trades politicians like he plays and trades spouses. But even when he dumps a politician or a spouse he remains cozy.gerald wrote:Trump is a high profile real estate developer, and developers are at the mercy of politicians regardless of ones opinion of them. Donald: "I've got a better looking spouse but you've got better looking lovers."
Bill: "You've bought a better politician, Donald."
Donald: "Yes, but you wait, that may change, my friend."
Bill: "At our level, it's all sport anyway, my friend."

This campaign is great fun for Trump. He can't get enough of the adoring live crowds. This weekend he talked about flying here and there because he owed it to his supporters, even though he has those states locked up.
Trump would not have the adoring live crowds if they weren't all doing so poorly.
As Barbara Tuchman said regarding the calamitous 14th Century, "If the sixty years seemed full of brilliance and adventure to a few at the top..." That captures it, only this time around it is even more so. This is all the few at the top know, and they will make their party go on for as long as they can, all of it for their benefit and none of it for yours. They have a vested interest in the suffering of the majority.
Their opinions on how to make it go on for as long as it can for them may vary slightly but the end goal is the same. If (and when) the crowds turn not so adoring, they will be violently crushed.

Some recent quotes from Martin in his blog:Higgenbotham wrote:I'd rather see the inevitable collapse happen under one of the "political establishment ass clowns" than an "outsider ass clown". It would really be a disaster for all of them to be able to point the finger at Trump and label him as the cause of the collapse.
Martin Armstrong wrote:This will become a major crisis come next year. Trump better pray Hillary wins. The people will probably begin a revolution against her since she is owned by Goldman Sachs.
On another topic, Martin notes:Martin Armstrong wrote:Of course, he may wish Hillary wins. The danger if Trump wins will be that the “establishment” will blame him for their 50 years of mismanagement.
Martin Armstrong wrote:For the first time in Britain, the number one name given to boys upon birth was Muḥammad.

It’s coming. About 600 European police units and members of the military have carried out assault exercises intended to crackdown on civil unrest in Germany and other EU countries. The scenarios under which they are carrying out these exercises are based upon civil war-like conditions. Instead of reforms, they are digging in their heels for a fight. Historically, all governments fail when they turn against the people whom they see as an enemy when they demand political change or action.

Sad, but how true.
