You raise an interesting point, but I was suspicious because
"Contamines" (pronounced kohn-ta-MEEN) is a different word than
"Contaminés" (pronounced kohn-TAH-mee-NAY).

So I did some googling, and found the following in Wikipedia: "The
name of the village originates from ancient local dialect. The word
“Contamines” once meant ploughable land on the squires estate."

You raise an interesting point, but I was suspicious because
"Contamines" (pronounced kohn-ta-MEEN) is a different word than
"Contaminés" (pronounced kohn-TAH-mee-NAY).

So I did some googling, and found the following in Wikipedia: "The

The "ancient local dialect" (of that area) is LATIN.
  • contaminate (v.)
early 15c., "infect with a disease, defile," from Latin contaminatus, past participle of contaminare "to defile, to corrupt, to deteriorate by mingling," originally "to bring into contact," from contamen "contact; pollution," from assimilated form of com "with, together" (see con-) + *tag-, base of tangere "to touch" (from PIE root *tag- "to touch, handle"). Related: Contaminant (1934).
..of course, the "local" usage MAY be similar to a Spanish usage of the word "polución" meaning: "semen-spilling",.. which is quite probable.

But isn't the "Apropos Poetical" just too "juicy" having the contagion exchange place be named "Joyful Semen-sowing Mountain", or "Joyful Mountain of Purposeful Fecund Contact"?

...and it's right on the transport junction of France, Italy and Switzerland?

And what a great piece of Plowable Land on "the Great Oppressor's" (squire's) estate on which to sow pestilential death, indeed..!

(( And NO, I'm NOT suggesting a conspiracy, but SOME weird occurrences are just TOO clever not to comment on. ))

** 10-Feb-2020 World View: Dozens more people test positive on Diamond Princess cruise ship

  • Cruise ship Diamond Princess quarantined off Yokohama, Japan
On Monday, 66 more people aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship,
quaranteed off Yokohama, tested positive for Wuhan coronavirus.

That almost doubles the known cases, bringing the total to 136. There
are 3,600 people aboard the cruise ship. But only 336 have been
tested so far. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Monday
that it might be difficult to test everyone aboard the ship.

The Diamond Princess departed Yokohama on January 20 and returned on
February 3 after visiting Kagoshima, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan and
Okinawa. The ship was put under quarantine on February 3. The
quarantine is scheduled to end on February 19, but the surge in new
cases puts that date in doubt.

Another cruise ship, the U.S.-operated Ocean Dream, is set to dock at
Yokohama on Saturday and Kobe on Sunday.
